What happened to glen johnson. He went off for treatment near the end of the game and I don't think he came back on. Hope all is well??

He did come back on. Lucas/Sakho updates?

Physio Room says one more week.

Don't think he will be ready in time to travel to Turkey. Even if he was fit, doubt they would want him to travel to Turkey straight after recovering.

Sorry mate, don;t look it will happen. But I hope it will happen for you...would be great to see him in Istanbul wearing Red for one last time. Actually, amazing to think he's the last one left from that squad of 2005...or is there somebody who I'm missing.

And they have no return date for Sakho

Just seen this on Twitter  :o

Hey up what's going on here lads.

That's why Sakho is so valuable to the club. He does the physio stuff for the club as well...while he's injured!

Still no real mention of Sakho's injury beyond that he had a hip scan, which leads me to think he'll be back sooner rather than later. I expect we'll see him for City as well.

One of the journos said it would be a late fitness test for him to make Beşiktaş. Seems like he hasn't made it, but you'd expect that means he'll be back for City.

Excellent news.

If we manage to win the tie today, we'll have a refreshed Sakho for the coming run of games.

Physioroom has Lucas coming back on the 22nd of March, which is 4 weeks away. Not sure whether it's simply a matter of his status not having been updated since the initial prognosis was issued.

You can't imagine we would let a player like Flanagan go and he will probably be signing whatever contract we put before him but this system change and the fact that its almost March means on the outside Flanagan fans will be pretty concerned with what his future holds.

Don't get this he will sign any contract we put in front of him rubbish. He less than 6 months left on his contract which I would guess he has turned down a few offers at least.
It will be a massive concern if we haven't offered him a contract at this late stage. Don't you think?
Also remember he will have a agent and it's them that reject or accept offers not the player.

I don't see it as a concern. How long has he been out for now? If we have concerns about his fitness then we are quite right to assess it before we tie him down on higher wages. I can't see him playing for a team better than us and I would imagine he would be happy with any contract we offer him, so it's just a waiting game.

Lucas has gone back before when he has had an injury. I imagine it does his mind good being back around his family, plus the warmer (I think its warmer) can't hurt.

According to the echo Sakho and Henderson should make it for the City game, its come to soon for Gerrard and Lucas it seems is still rehabilitating.

Lucas enjoys great relations with everyone at Gremio so going home to rehab in the 32 degree Brazilian summer heat would be a no-brainer if I was Lucas.  Lots of sun,  sees his family,  gets to spend time in the outdoor pool with his kids versus winter at Melwood.  Who wouldn't go to Brazil if given the chance!!!!

I think we all know why Lucas would want to go there, but the thrust of the question was why a club with a cutting edge medical science team would send him off to recover at a tiny club's facilities.

What does he need?

Physio and training.

Maybe they sent a physio with him? As long as he follows the clubs program what's the problem?

He's a bright chap, I'm sure he knows what he's doing.....

My impression is (and I admit I may be wrong) that warm weather could possibly ease healing....

Oh, and Gremio isn't exactly a tiny club either.... I'm sure Phil scholari wouldn't mind him there for a few days...

Do we have a cutting edge medical team?  We don't even have a Doctor at the moment.  I think Chris Morgan does a good job,  but who else do we have?

I remember Darren Burgess reporting how massively impressed he was with the state of football medicine in Brazil after he'd spent some time over there with lucas while he was recovering from his ACL injury.

Having said all of that could anyone imagine Spearing or Kelly or any other local lad we've sold coming back to rehab with us when they got injured like Lucas always does with Gremio!!!!  Says alot in my opinion that they welcome him so warmly.

And yeah,  Gremio is a very big club managed by Phil Scolari with great facilities,  hardly Chasetown FC!!!
