Hmmm... mate just showed me their thread on Cafe Rouge... (or shall I say "our thread" ;D )
Fair bit of them seems confident they'll get something from this. It's *awkward* in there! ;D

They HAVE TO get points on the board now and they're not as focused on losing just to spite us as they had been a few days ago. That Everton result, came at probably the best time FOR US- a measure of our "luck" this season. A warning to them that they've let standards slip ahead of the City game and to re-adjust to the target and up their performances.

This really feels like clutching at straws but is Ander Herrera expected to be fit?  He would at least bring some bite and snide to the midfield.  Herrera, Matic/McTominay and Pogba might not roll over and have their tummy tickled in the way that any midfield containing Fred seems to.

I just had a shuddering flashback to when I used to be desperate for Lucas to be fit as otherwise we'd have to pick Spearing or Poulsen.

Well firstly, what does 'BPL' mean?  There is no such thing as that so you've kicked off on the wrong foot.  Secondly, it's an Americanism to use terms like that to differentiate between baseball, gridiron and basketball (I assume) but we've no conflicting interests.  There's football, football and, erm...what's the other one?  Oh yeah, football.  Any letters used like that are superfluous and mark the user down as someone who's trying but not fully conversant with the topic yet.

Full on Brexit that

He explains it here
that's right, thanks.  I guess in the UK it's known as the Premier League, whereas where I am from, for many years it was known as Barclays Premier League (BPL)....or maybe it has already changed but I am outdated :P

The fact that it's a derby should make it a bit more tense despite the gap between the teams,on paper we should have gone
to Goodison and pasted the blues should we not?
I disagree that if City win tonight it's all over,i think it's going down to the last game of the season maybe even the last few minutes but if both teams collect maximum points then our lads deserve maximum praise for their efforts even though no one else remembers the runners up.
We can be incredibly proud of the boys for this season and the way they have performed and every other team will know that we will be doing the same again next season and it's only a matter of time before we start to dominate again.

Matic has the turning capacity of the QE2. Him and Pogba in midfield will give city and absolutely insane amount of space, it's the stuff of their dreams.

Calling football soccer. Calling the league the 'BPL/EPL'. People who call united 'manure' or city 'shitty'. People who refer to games against united as a derby.

It's not neccessarily precluding them from a discussion about football, though that was what the post said, it just makes me cringe.

I've heard the United fans hate Matic, not sure what the Chelsea fans made of him. What was the story of his move? Did Mourinho sell him? Did he pick him whilst manager of United?

For me, this match has been the sure win for Manchester City, and I am pretty sure they will smash Manchester United. Biggest defeat in their history is 7-0. If they lose 4-0 to Everton, then we can look maybe for a record this evening.

For me, it was the Tottenham game, and Burnley away and Leicester that was the most difficult matches for City. If this nothing team Manchester United can even scrape a tiny bit of resistance to City, then I will be hugely suprised.

I've said all season, the key to getting anything from City is to get through the first 30 unscathed (or at least in touch). If you can do that, you've got a chance. If United can do that, they've got a chance. Put aside United's form and remember the context, you're away from home at your local neighbours in a title run-in where you have literally zero room for error. If they find themselves going beyond 30 having not scored, they'll get nervous. They will. It's natural. We saw that against Spurs at the weekend, who really should have got something from the game.

Whether United can ride the early storm is another question.

Yep that's what happened I think. He tailed off massively and suddenly after his peak. He was quite good on his return before he was moved on though.

Hopefully one last hurrah tonight though, eh? Matic to complete the rout with a 40 yard thunderbolt for Man Utd's fifth. He then immediately crumbles into dust as Old Trafford sinks into a massive hole just hours after the final whistle.

Yeh Herrera has been back in training since the Everton game which probably came too early for him.  I hope he starts because apparently their record is better with him in it which is pretty obvious given what you've described.

Agree with this, especially the point about keeping it tight and nerves kicking in if so.

Only issue is that Spurs had two, maybe three, brilliant players in Eriksen, Son and Moura who caused City all sorts of issues and, like you said, really should have scored at least once. I doubt whether Pogba, Rashford and Lukaku etc are capable of causing the same problems.

I've said this a fair bit myself and I actually think it's completely wrong now. I think teams go in with 'keep it tight for 20 minutes' in their head and this causes nervousness which leads to so, so many conceding early. You need to keep it tight for 90 minutes and give city some problems of their own if you want to beat them. 'Surviving the first 20' seems to be doing teams more harm than good.

23rd April 2019, James Milner during interview:

"First time in my life," the Reds star said about his support for United this week.

"But I won't be watching. It's a bit of a waste of energy, willing the ball in the other goal."

"I can't do anything about it. I'll maybe put my phone away for a few hours and check it after.

"I've no idea what I'll do, maybe go out for some food."
