Drives me mad all the people calling for VVD to be Captain. Like you said, no reason at all to disrespect an excellent current Captain, but you see it constantly on twitter and that.

VVD won't be arsed, he knows he's a leader, but why knock Hendo's confidence over a piece of cloth

Not necessary. Hyppia wasn't putting a foot wrong before Houllier replaced him with Gerrard. Best man for the job. Nothing personal.

Henderson is the captain and does a lot of unseen work behind the scenes.

He clearly does and I've seen bits and pieces of it on preseason tours and the like. On the pitch though Van Dijk and Alisson have authority like few others. It comes from being the best in the world in your respective positions. That quite simply cannot be knocked.

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

Henderson is a good role model. Van Dijk is a great captain. That's the problem at the moment for observers from the stands. But Klopp, at the least, thinks it would risk upsetting the camaraderie of the changing room to reflect that so it's a pointless discussion, especially at this moment in time. Hope he's back for tonight.

Think his words of the importance of everyone staying calm and encouraging the team will be one of the most important things he will do whilst at the club. Leader even if he wasn't quite at his exceptional best due to illness.

Wow!

Quote
Defensive Contributions

In terms of tackles, Gomez averages 1.5 per 90 minutes. Lovren is at 1.3 whereas Matip appears less imposing, with just 0.5. As a reference point, Van Dijk’s average for tackles is 0.9 per 90.

Lovren gets dribbled past almost once per game, averaging 0.8. Gomez falls to one-in-two at 0.5, and Matip to one-in-five.

Van Dijk, on the other hand, underlines his brick wall reputation with the mindblowing stat that he’s yet to be dribbled past in the league, after 24 games.

Not sure how this stat is collated. Sane after all dribbled past him when vvd stuck out a leg and gave away a penalty earlier in the season.

Dribbling pass=It is dribbling past without winning a tackle. Sane didnt complete the dribble he was fouled in the process. it would tackle lost/Duel lost and a foul for Virgil

Yep, I was more than a bit annoyed at Firmino's selfishness there, but then the lad went and set up Trent's chance with a beautiful pass. Hard to stay angry at Bobby.

I thought it was Trent next to Bobby watching it live, then saw the replay and thought what are you doing up there you mad bastard?!
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

That was the pass that would have guaranteed a goal, but I don't think Firmino saw it. Virgil was offside for most of the run and, realising it, started to decelerate. That made a pass to him really tricky.

Definitely. He lost quite a bit of weight with his illness Jurgen said. He should be fresh physically and mentally for the business end of the season.
