Best players: Moreno, Can and Lucas (Sakho was up there until that weird moment that provided Norwich with their chance that Mignolet did ever so well to save. He's still top 5 performer for us mind you)
Worst players: Coutinho, Benteke and Milner. Even before Coutinho completely shit the bed on that 2 v 1 chance (should have squared it all day, every day)
thoughts from the game:
Brendan Frustrates Yet Again --
To begin, I have to say that we played really well and he can't be faulted for Mignolet's limp wristed punch or our countless wasted opportunities. Also, BR saved some rage from the fans by actually playing Moreno and Sakho. Here's where he killed me today. Sturridge starting!?!? Ignoring performance of the team or him, and ignoring the fitness element, why not bring him on as a sub? Maybe the logic was to have him start to lift the spirits of Anfield prior to kick-off after the fans got the starting 11. But imo, it's a lot more tangible of a spiritual uplifting to have him come on as sub. He got have lifted the crowd, in turn lifting the players by having him warm-up before half, then again after half. Also, he knew several players were probably fatigued from travelling and playing on Thursday, yet he doesn't even consider that element.
Emre Can and Moreno looked so incredible. Granted Can showed awful defending on Norwich's chance Mignolet saved.
I love Sturridge and Lucas
Coutinho, while being our beloved little genius, has always frustrated me by his constant desire to do too much. We all know he's capable of pulling off the insane, but I just wish he'd balance the playing the ambitious with playing the simple. efficient
