I hate all the other teams. But its not 'real' hate. Its only 'football' hate. Or a kind of banterish kind of hate. I suspect a great many footie fans are like me, or maybe not. I dunno. Its not a serious kind of hate.

He fell in love with Villa whilst researching for his role in Castaway. Apparently he moved to Birmingham to experience how it felt to be miles and miles from civilisation.

Said it was a great signing when he was first linked, glad we signed it. Not my money, so don't care that he cost £32.5 million, if he fires us to the CL, he'll be worth double that in my eyes. Top signing, fook da h8rs.

If Ibe improves his shooting and really steps into Raheem's boots (Not that Raheem was great at shooting - but in terms of making clever runs and scaring defences consistently), I can envision Benteke's presence occupying defenders allowing the pace of someone like Ibe to run absolute riot.

           Sturridge     Benteke
                        Ibe
       Firmino                Coutinho
                       Can
Moreno   Sakho      Skrtel     Clyne

Could be a deadly future set-up.

God damn we have a lot of options in midfield and attack at the moment. I really hope we don't let go of Lucas. Such a reliable option. Thinking maybe Lazar needs a loan to another Premier League side. Another season like the last one and he'll start to fade into a player worth only a tiny percentage of what we paid for him.

But yeah...Benteke. He does seem intrinsically likeable. Must've been aware of the negative noises within our fan base regarding his potential arrival (From myself included)...I just feel now as though he can't possibly do any worse than what we had last season...If he just has a reasonable season by the standards of his career to date, it could mean the difference between a top 4 push/trophy and another year fighting Spurs for 5th.

Not jizzing my pants with excitement as I was over the signing of Suarez - But feeling increasingly optimistic about this move.

Thats quite the FIFA formation, we'd get overrun in midfield. Realistically

           Sturridge       Benteke
                        Firmino
       Hendo                Milner
                       Can
Moreno   Sakho      Skrtel     Clyne

Or a Christmas tree formation:

                       Benteke
            Coutinho       Firmino
       Hendo        Can        Milner
   Moreno   Sakho      Skrtel     Clyne

Mario may be nuts and a complete waste of space on the pitch, mentally not ability wise, but you can't knock his enthusiasm or his boisterousnous. He could easily sulk and not have a laugh with benteke.

I was wondering that myself. Would CB be able to finally  get Mario playing to his potential. It would allow Mario to drop off like he likes to do. That will  be an interesting sub plot to the season.

Just imagine for a second what it would be like if Balotelli stays and becomes productive again...

Sturridge-Benteke-Balotelli-Origi-Ings would be some strikeforce... Phwoaar!

Considering that Brendan was quoted saying "its up to Mario" when asked what Balotelli's future was its not out of the realm's of possibilities that Mario could turn things around now that he has absolutely no expectations on him (compared to last season when he was expected to carry the team almost immediately when Sturridge was injured).

I just hope if Mario stays then he is inspired by the calibre of players the club is bringing in, finally realises this may be his last shot at a big club and shows his true potential.

Lots of ifs and buts like but it would be great to see Benteke and Mario strike up a great partnership.

Recall reading a few weeks ago that he'd be doubling his wages - was on a reported 40k a week at Villa.

Welcome Christian as hope you do well.

It will be interesting to see how the team changes to blend him into the team and visa versa. Hopefully we see a little less 30 pass moves and try to use his strength & pace a little quicker as sometimes last season we looked like we needed to move the ball up the field in 2 yard increments. He will add some well needed strength to the side as we are still quite light weight and really looking forward to a potential partnership with Sturridge.

Call me pessimistic, he's a decent striker but I don't see how he fits into our manager's philosophy of fluidity and movement, i feel that a partnership of balo and chris would be too static and easy to man mark, especially with Benteke's movement coupled with Mario "too-boss-to-track-back" Balotelli's workrate and general attitude, i cannot tell how it would turn out if he partners with sturridge but if he can keep fit and somehow get on eachother's wavelength then it might work.
