Kompany, jay not red cards, good fucking tackles, wolve's guy not a red card clearly, lampard potential leg-breaker (ref bottled and gave yellow), cabaye potential leg breaker (not even a card), barton's head rub (red upheld after appeal) vs dempsey's (yellow - and much worse to me) and that's just a few over the last couple of games

Standard of refs this season is at all time low for me, pathetic, tackles will be fazed out of the game in years to come, it'll end up shadow play and fuckall contact.

If the wolve's red wasn't rescinded I can't see how Kompany has got a hope even tho it was a good tackle.

Good for us but one more nail in the coffin of our game, FA are fucking killing the sport (throw in the reduced ban for rooney for clear violent conduct after FA marches to FIFA with a group of lawyers and the game fucking stinks to high heaven when the muppets are involved).

Agree entirely.

All clubs should appeal for red card bans to be reduced to two games, on the basis of the FA's own appeal regarding Rooney's unprovoked violent kick at an opponent.  How can the FA say with a straight face that Barton deserves a three game ban for... nothing after they appealed a three game ban for a blatant kick by Rooney...?  #hypocrites

I thought it was a red. But it wasnt as bad as the newcastle players challenge. Refs have to get their act together.

Mancini said he'd appeal it (according to BBC), does that happen before or after the game on Wednesday? And if he loses could the ban then be increased to 5 games?

It's pretty simple for players, don't tackle with both feet in the air and you've got a high chance of being ok.

corrected that for you :)

he went in with 2 feet off the ground so he was always at risk doing it. It was a red card IMO but he'll appeal and it'll be rescinded because the FA want the semi final of the Carling Cup to have as many good players in it as possible. It's all about £££.

Given the possibility of getting an additional games suspension for doing that, I'd say they're unlikely to appeal in such a tactical manner.

They have already appealed it.

Looking at the tackle, the law and the Milijas appeal - they have no basis to get it overturned.  But who knows with the FA?

I'm surprised they've appealed, if it isn't accepted, an extra game is added, so will miss both legs. Internally, I'd have thought City will be confident of a home win, so will be happy with his return for the second leg...but saying that, they haven't got Kolo and will be short at the back I reckon it will be overturned

Have a feeling it'll get overturned to be honest.

Watching it back, it didn't look that bad until the replays were saw.

He one the ball, IMO, that's what the appeal will be based on.

in fairness it was never a red card, there isn't anything int he rules of the game stating you can't tackle with 2 feet. its the refs interpretation as to whether it was dangerous.

I suppose you could argue if Nani hadn't jumped out the way it could of been dangerous. very grey area.

His tackle was more dangerous than Spearing's clearance. Spearing cleared the ball, and way after his clearance hit the Fulham's player's outstretched leg trying to defend the clearance, and even though the Fulham's player was late to the ball Spearing was the one who committed the foul.

Compared to that a two legged tackle is going to be a red card, even when minimal contact.

But one thing I found interesting is this: "The FA have confirmed that a hearing will be held ahead of Wednesday evening's Carling Cup semi-final first leg at home to Liverpool."

My English is not that good, so that means they will make a decision before the Wednesdays game, right? And if the ruling is upheld, he will be banned for 4-5 games?

Doubt it mate. The rules/guidelines mention nothing about winning the ball and I think they'll say he was off the ground with both feet, and therefore, the ban stands.

Correct.

Miljas, one footed, not off the deck.

It was a far tamer tackle..

If the Miljas one wasn't overturned, then Kompany's won't be.

The Football Association says Manchester City's appeal against Vincent Kompany's red card is claiming wrongful dismissal and will be heard on Tuesday. A result is expected on Tuesday afternoon. For the ban to be overturned, it would have to be proved the referee made an obvious error. If City are unsuccessful, the FA could technically extend the ban to five matches should it deem the appeal had no prospect of success, although that is thought unlikely in this case.
