This Potter lad might be worth considering

He's good. What he did over here with Östersund was bordering on a miracle. But tonight we gifted the win to him and his team. We could have played another game and still not created a decent chance.

When we're bad, we're really bad.

That was atrocious. I feel bad for the lads, but some of that stuff....wow. So slow, so predictable. And that's got to be one of the slowest(and shortest?) lineups ever. Firmino, Shaq, Gini, Milner, Thiago, Phillips, Hendo. Oh well. "Looking forward" to Sunday.  :(

The way we attack is too ponderous and predictable. Give the ball to Hendo, hit a long ball. Otherwise pass it around the back four until you get it to one of the fullbacks in space who plays a cross into a packed defence at no one in particular. Rinse, repeat.

We're missing the goals Van Dijk brings from set pieces. Those are so valuable in games like this.

After two excellent away wins to seemingly get back on track what a let down that performance was.  Fair to say over the course of the season injuries have killed us but that was simply poor and flat.

Also. I know we’re not allowed to say this because he’s classy etc - but Thiago was shit tonight. Feels so far like he’s great in the big games but struggles against a low block. I’m sure he’ll be a world beater, but I’m a bit bored with pretending he has been so far.

As Kloppo's shoe shiner?

He's a very good coach who just entirely outdid Kloppo tonight. Not that I'd swap Klopp for anyone ever.

Can’t seem to string more than a couple of passes without giving it away esp up top with Firmino back to his annoying best.

Playing our best midfielders in Defence was always going to come back and bite us in the arse, so much for the club trying to be clever!

Brighton throughly deserved it and we can have no complaints. We look tired and off the pace. Quicker we get the new centre backs up to speed the better as we need Henderson in midfield. Don’t see why we didn’t rotate it a bit in midfield giving Jones a start.

Need to regroup and make sure we make top 4. League is done for me, we are not catching City.

Worth remembering that we were without Alisson, Matip, VVD, Gomez, Keita, Fabinho, Mane and Jota tonight.

8 players who would have started.

Put your anger in a little perspective folks.

Jones should have started too.

Well played to Brighton.

First bad result of the season apart from Villa where I didn't think bad luck played a big part. Well done Brighton, and understandable on our part (not in this game, but in our overall development) that it looks like our injuries mean we'll have to regroup a bit and hopefully come back stronger later.

Fookin norah, such a long home unbeaten record and then had off twice in a row by Burnley and Brighton.

Don't know whats going on here, but this rinse and repeat of continually crossing balls into the box isn't working, neither is the pedestrian pace of midfield.

This season can fook right off.

It feels like Groundhog Day this, albeit with the welcome break of the previous two games which was presumably some sort of dream, either that or someone knocked me out snd I started remembering last season.

I’m never going to dig this team out because they’ve enough credit in the bank for me, but of course this has just been shocking lately - the reasons why I’d imagine is a culmination of all the things that everyone had mentioned as infinitum.

I still fancy us against City, as long as we get in the top four next season we can build again without some bluenose fucking gobshite snapping our best player and hopefully have a bit more of a normal season - I’ve also witnessed with my own eyes a much worse team than this one win the European Cup so, as shite as it feels, all isn’t quite lost.

They had four out also, our team is still at a much higher level than these bottom teams we can't beat.

We have enough to beatspurs and west ham, we aren't finding solutions for the bottom teams.

It's no coincidence.

Thiago doesn't seem to be on the same wavelength as anyone else. The amount of times I saw a good ball and then is killed off by a player in an attacking position passing it back or not making use of it.

Ever since Fat Sam and his West Brom team sat back blocked the full backs, 9 in the pen box and blocking the final 3rd then they have all copied that set up.

We're struggling to cope with breaking it down.

It's like we are missing a Jack Grealish, or a wide player that can beat men.

City is a must win now or title has gone.

Ali wouldn't have saved the Brighton goal, but even factoring in that we had 4 of our other very best players missing and our captain was playing out of position it's understandable there'll be many adjectives used to describe our performance tonight.
Mine is pitiful.

I have another adjective for you though. Energetic. That's the word I'd use to describe the bloke we sent on loan who could have busied himself and troubled the Brighton players.

We weren’t good but how often are just hampered by poor refereeing. Every time we won the ball in the midfield with a press he seemed to blow. Brighton didn’t really give us many opportunities to win it high up but I felt when we actually did manage it they got a free kick.

We were poor though.

We're slipping back to being that team that are predictable and who teams like to play against, who have a game plan and see other teams execute it.
Late now in some games seems like we need a target man to give us something, dare I say it like a Cavani. I am (was) a huge fan of his. Origi can't do it he's had many chances.
I'm not sure what the answer is really, but I'm sure Klopp will.

If we want any chance of finishing top 4(coz that's what it's about now), then the manager, the coaching staff and the players need to work hard at finding a solution to breaking these teams down. They simply have to find another way. Because it's not good enough from any of them at the moment.

I think we need more attacking players with an attack mindset to bring out the best in Thiago. Players like Jones, Minamino, Aouar, with great movement and like to get in the box.

He can't get the ball out of his feet to dribble, pass or shoot. It's like his body is always ahead of the ball and he's having to dig the ball out from behind him.

Don’t think you can accuse Brighton of sitting back. Admittedly they weren’t Man City in their approach but they weren’t Fat Sam lite either. When they got forward they committed bodies and created two or three other opportunities apart from the goal.

Hard to pass to players when their movement and control is so poor.
How many poor touches and misplaced passes did we have in the first 15 minutes.
