Some away game as the last in his tenure, that.

All starting to feel a bit too real now. Straight to bed after the game. How some people have it in them to lose their heads over dead rubbers when we’re losing an all time great I’ll never know.

What a bloke.

I’m going to find it really difficult to cope next season knowing Jurgen won’t be here anymore, ever since he broke the news it’s been difficult just trying to process it all, I’m one of those people who find it really difficult to get over things quickly or come to terms with things.  :(
I wish him all the best and respect his decision as we can clearly see he can’t go on anymore it’s taken too much out of him. I knew the day would come one day but I was prepared thinking he would see his contract out but it’s come sooner that that.  :'(

Thank you Jurgen for all the memories, you’ve given me the greatest joy of any Liverpool manager in my lifetime and I wouldn’t swap you for any manager in the world in any lifetime.

There are places I'll remember
All my life, though some have changed.
Some forever, not for better;
Some have gone and some remain.

All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall.
Some are dead and some are living,
In my life I've loved them all.

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you.
And these mem'ries lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new.

Tho' I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before,
I know I'll often stop and think about them,
In my life I love you more.

Tho' I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before,
I know I'll often stop and think about them,
In my life I love you more.

In my life I love you more.

The future is for another day.

Even before day 1, tracking his plane to the UK (it was the number 1 plane viewed on the planet and crashed the website). Watching a mercedes mini bus parked up at Liverpool airport like it was a royal coronation.

Doubters to believers and beyond. Memories of days and nights that will be told for generations to come. He has changed every single facet of this club from the second he joined that will be spoken about in the same way the boot room was, the same way the This is Anfield sign, the same way changing our kit to all red.

To boil it down to even 100 moments would be like trying to pick between a favourite son/daughter. Every single moment was special.

Thanking him would never be enough. He has been so so special and a once in a generation manager.

It was actually Shanks who led the team out wasn't it mate? I can picture Brian Clough clapping him. He'd resigned of course by then, but didn't Bob let him manage the team one last time? I wonder what he made of Keegan punching the living daylights out of Bremner? Probably told him he should have lamped Dirty Giles too.

Yes, Shanks did lead the team out that day, and Giles was the one who started it all off with a haymaker to the side of Keegan's head and right in front of the ref.
He would have got a 6 months ban these days with a bit of jail time thrown in.
Leeds were always known as a hard side, but they were really a bunch of snide jackals.

You are right.

I was extremely drunk that day.

I ended up doing a moonie at a tube station to hoots of laughter from surrounding Reds.

Three years later I was queuing up in the AA office in Liverpool to arrange our travel insurance for our car journey to Rome when the lad behind me said he recognised my arse, if not my face (I was fully clothed but I’m sure you get my drift) from three years before.

I was 9.

Far be it from me to assume you were born in 66, but if you were then you were 7 or 8 depending on birthday! I know this as a fact cos A) Maths and B) the '74 cupfinal was the first match I attended, age 7, born in 66. Had no idea of Shanks true import of course nor that I was witnessing history. I just remember falling in love. 50 years.

And now... dunno. I have feelings of disconection for same reasons many others do and was fast falling away from it until Jurgen arrived and everything changed and the love was rekindled. I'm one of those who may well walk away now too, we'll see, I'm not committing to anything rashly but my emotional energy may need to be spent elsewhere for what's remaining of life.

Jurgen Klopp. Wow. No words really but I fear there may be tears next Sunday at mine - was close last night at end of match. Thanks for the memories Jurgen, for your boundless (as was) energy and for  giving me (many of us) some of my best ever football experiences. Oh, and for restoring some kinda faith in humanity. If ever a guy needed and deserved a break it's you, and I'm glad you had the awareness to stop now before it takes too much from you. You created an unforgettable, joyous, absolute riot of a football team who were in the conversation for the best side on the planet for 2.5 years or so at one point

Danke, danke, danke.

I always fuck it up when trying to work my ages out, yes I was 7 coming up to 8 in May 1974, I'm december 1966, so 58 this year. It was the reactions of my Mum, Dad and Uncles that made me realise just how monumental Shanks leaving was, my Mum told me one of my uncles on her side cried.

Gave us 9 magnificent seasons, won us everything, and the club is unrecognisable both on and off the pitch compared to when he joined. He leaves us with the team in great shape to push on, and qualified for the Champions League.

Always best to leave the people wanting more. We’ve been blessed to have Jurgen.

It has been a wonderful 9 years (fucking hell that flew). Can't believe its 11 years since about 16 of us were at her brothers on CL night and everyone of us there wanted Dortmund to win. A few years later, I was the only one who still loved Klopp ;D

I remember saying on the old OnTheKop forum I didn't think we'd be able to attract his as manager, I almost pissed my kecks when I was told he'd accepted the job, like Rafa, I just loved watching his Dortmund team play football. Will miss the mad bastard

There's so many wonderful things that Jurgen has brought over the past 9 years, from that infectious passion and laugh. A Klopp hug or fist pump......persuaded some top top class players to join and stay at the club in their pomp.

To all those exhilarating games, Dortmund, Barca, Ali's header, United 7-0, putting City to the sword in the European Cup. The many finals both won and lost.....

I believe the most special gift he will leave behind, are the standards he's brought into the club, the expectations of how to behave and how to work.  Doubters to believers....this culture, i hope stands the test of time and becomes part of the fabric within our club from the tea lady to the kit men. People can come and go, but cultures can and do remain.

This weekend will be something quite special and ironically intimate even though the world will be watching, it will be family members sending their love to another who is now moving onto the next chapter in their life story.

Danke Jurgen.
