Which is also why Clyne has been made redundant. The system has moved on. He was our best player in the back 6 (the defensive positions) two seasons ago IMO. Now we have no use for him at all. What I see is one player who will run at players with the ball and give them the shits - which is excellent against a low block. Another with a peach of a left foot - perhaps even better than Robertson potentially in that sense.

The full back market in world football is a bit shit at the moment. If you are recruiting for someone, there isn't much out there. If the academy can spit out players that cover those positions, it would be a huge bonus for us and give us quite the edge over other sides.

Maybe one dodgy moment the end of the first half, but other than that he was tremendous, utterly utterly tremendous. I struggle to think of a better all round left back for us in the three decades I've followed this club. He'll be a legend soon enough. He almost is already, in my head.

Na, so maybe that one too! Horrible ball to deal with though, so I find it hard to really blame him for that one. I was thinking of last few minutes of the first half, where he gave the ball away to Mertens I think it was, who would have been through on goal was Big Virg not a Usain Boltesque sprinter. Got a bollocking for that off the big man did Robbo, but other than that it was another immense performance.

He is amazing. Defensively brilliant, his vision and passing is incredible, he's quick and got a hell of an engine, his crossing and ability to volley cross is amazing. Best left back since god knows who. I loved a fit Aurelio, but Robbo is days ahead of him.

Out of all the players, he seems to possess the knack of knowing how and when to rev the crowd up with a robust (but also clever) piece of play, understands the value in them.
