Mourinho did not stop Barca.  One of the biggest myths about his managerial record.

He is nothing more then a reactive manager who can't set his team up to go out and take control of a game when facing an attacking team.  Utd will sit in, defend, and lump balls in to the box.  If they win it'll be a performance that Tony Pulis would be proud of.

Mourinho did more than any single other manager to stop Rodgers' Liverpool from wining the premiership though in that seminal season. He knows how to set up his defence and play for the counterattack. On the other hand this time we have a far more gegenpressing type team so im hoping we can overrun them and score an early goal and force them to open up their game and then we can overwhelm them.

I really don't know what to make of this match, and it's been eating at me everyday since the Swansea game. On one hand, it's at Anfield, the players will be up for it, and we're due a win in this fixture. On the other hand, I can see Mourinho coming in and playing extremely negative football to snatch a win. If there's one thing i'm certain of it's that we're not going to get played off the park, and I don't see us losing by more than a goal.

Just hope the boys from Brazil will be ready to go because we'll need them on top form.
Got to love the Klopp

With the caveat that in fact after being battered by Liverpool, the Utd fans and players are not short sighted and appreciate that this performance is just a blip.

Utd have a great future under Mourinho and they will turn many corners under him.

Agreed mate.

Those wanting him to fail so soon are being a bit shortsighted, there is still a whole world of pain he can inflict on them before the eventual sacking.  I hope there are many corners still to be turned, optimism levels to be raised only for them to lose direction again and see the pessimism levels go through the floor.

We need many mini meltdowns to happen before the shit really hits the fan and he loses it completely.  Mid October is way too soon  ;D

If they let him have 3 or 4 seasons there he'll leave the club in a hell of a lot worse state than he found it.....and thats saying something!

That's a bit like a heavy weight boxer with a 100% knock out record having to go 12 rounds, has he ever lasted beyond 3 seasons anywhere?

I'd prefer him hovering around the EL places most of the season, with the occasional foray into the CL spots, only for a total collapse to happen in the last half dozen games of the season.  Doesn't give them much time to decide on his/their future, lot's of uncertainty going into the summer, he spends another shed load of money followed by a complete capitulation in the first 10 games.

Having said all that, once we've thrashed them next Monday I couldn't care less about them til we play them again  ;D

No. I fooking hate it and what's worse is that we play 1 week today - although I suppose it is like when you're a kid. Do I eat all the nice bits of my tea now or get my veggies down so I can enjoy the best bits at the end ?

They are going to shut up shop for this one, typical Maureen tactic against attacking sides. Hopefully Lallana is back as he will be key in crowbaring open the shithouses early doors then we can anialate the c*nts

Idiotic decision (no surprise there), now there will be a week of both sets of fans complaining and probably a few media articles on him. Needless pressure.

Dunno why they would do such things. Isn't there enough "drama" around this fixture to then go and appoint some guy from Manchester(or even someone from Liverpool).
Surely you try to minimize controversy?

This is a world-class clash(quality apart) and usually they'd have someone who's got some good experience- albeit someone who makes very controversial decisions half of the time(or more). Then one of the few other times they decide not to involved a "top" referee, they just continue to muck it up by bringing in a potentially worse ref.
Hope he keeps his head.

If anything, the comments made about it throughout the week will hopefully mean he'll be less likely to give United decisions.

Mr. Taylor has given 27 yellow cards in 7 premier league games this season.

The only game he has ref'd and not given any cards out was when he ref'd Man Utd when they won at home 2-0 against Southampton.

Cautiously optimistic about this fixture. Although we lost at Anfield last January 0-1 after a good run of form, it is clear this is a different team. In that match, we started with Firmino, Lallana, and Milner as our attacking three, so it was understandable why we struggled to score. I doubt we will have that problem this time, judging by the additions we made this summer and our current goalscoring form. This is a different squad with a different mentality and I expect to come away with a win. The international break will cause problems for some, but players like Milner, Can, and Karius have had time to train and prepare for the game. I am hoping Lallana will be fit and ready to go, although if he is unavailable, Can (a player many argued we were over reliant on before the season) will be able to do a job in midfield.

I see Bailly as their weak point as he is the worst player in their defence with the ball, our our high press will target him and cut of avenues for him to pass the ball,we did a similar thing with Rose in the Spurs game, anyway he'll end up hoofing it up the pitch giving us the ball back or losing the ball near their penalty area. :D

3-1 to us with Firmino (2)  & Coutinho getting the goals.

They're the perfect fit!

Both Utd and Mourinho have a hugely inflated sense of their own self-importance.
Both Utd and Mourinho have endured recent humbling spells/downward spirals into the pits of footballing oblivion.
Both Utd and Mourinho impress wankers, attract wanker followers, and generally inspire wankery.
Both Utd (fans) and Mourinho like to disrespect other clubs/managers - often with more prestige than them.
Both Utd and Mourinho are at their level in the Europa League.
Both Utd and Mourinho will win nothing this season.

Adventurous?

       Firmino     Sturridge     Mane

Or pessimistic/cautious:

           Coutinho      Firmino       Mane

*Option to bring Milner into midfield if we need a goal, with Moreno coming on to attack their right side.

Ah, bollocks.

With a front line of Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino and Mane I'd have bet my house that we would absolutely blitz their slow, negative and ponderous team and beat them at least 3 or 4-0 without them even knowing what him them. Now with Lallana and Wijnaldum potentially out, I'm less confident. We'll win 2-0.
