Fact of the matter is, a lot of people have bought into the arguments for Corbyn's leadership. They aren't the hard leftists and Trots who make up the truly hardcore of his support but they're still numerous. The likes of Owen Jones and George Monbiot have fed them utter bollocks about "the Overton window" and "shifting the debate" and they've lapped it up, genuinely believing there's an army of uber Bennites out there who've been waiting their entire lives for a "true" socialist party to emerge.
Of course, sensible people realise that basing an electoral strategy around people who don't vote is fucking lunacy. It's the logic of political kindergarteners, the same types who believe millions of people voted for David Cameron because they wanted Ed Miliband to be more left wing. But these people still exist.
They may have voted for Corbyn in good faith. In the genuine belief he'd shift the nation leftwards and give "hope" to the masses. But they were wrong. Blatantly wrong. So painfully wrong it feels almost sadistic to point it out. Sure, they voted for him to get a better society. But they are, just as much as the Tories, responsible for dragging us over the edge.
Side with Corbyn and you are responsible for Brexit. You are responsible for grammar schools. You are responsible for slashes to welfare and you are responsible for the NHS crisis. You are responsible for robbing the young of the future they always thought they'd have, had their grandparents not decided to kick the bloody forners aht.
Seriously. Wake up. Fucking wake up and smell the coffee.
