Matip & Fabino doing the business.
Hopefully we can give enough rest to last till May without any major injuries

Great goal last night.
Instrumental in our performance last night and last few matches.

I assume he and Fabinho miss the CL midweek match to Denmark.
next match vs Fulham and then Harry Kane & Spurs

I suppose with the 5 subs rule in Europe in may be worthwhile he and Fab playing a half each alongside Williams and then resting one of them against Fulham, probably Matip, and playing Phillips there.

Unless big Billy K plays in Europe and we basically write off the result as we will be top anyway.

I'm in the 'write it off' camp and definitely back the main boys not even travelling.

I don't want to throw results away and would still send some of the senior pros, especially ones needing minutes, but I think this should be a youth and back-up heavy side.

Matip was quality last night. Interestingly, he's said he feels over the issue that's caused so many of his niggling injuries. I pray that's the case as he's our best defender after VVD.

I think it'd be a good idea to play Williams and a younger lad instead, we still can't afford an injury to Fabinho or Matip, especially in a dead rubber game. It's a shame Phillips isn't registered for it. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if Phillips did get a run out against Fulham, but if both Matip and Fabinho sit this European game out we probably don't need to.

They don’t come any more dead rubber than this one. Rhys and kometio in defence . Also Adrian , tsimikas, neco , bonner, glatzel, longstaff, clarkson , Minamino, origi to complete line up. Zero reason to risk anyone . Need the likes of firmino and naby to give us a decent bench against Fulham

What are the actual rules for the CL though? Did we not name a 25-man squad and have to pick players from that?

Think we can chuck in a bunch of youth players if we want.

Ones with a star next to their name on the uefa website are on the b list, under 21 and been here 2+ Years. You can add anyone who meets that criteria to the list up until I think 24 hours before kick off

Outside the Liverpool fanbase Matip is criminally under rated. His injury record and the fact he's not always 1st pick (Gomez ahead of him in the pecking order on occasions) probably doesn't help the perception of his ability. But when fit he's a brilliant centre back.

Beyond van Dijk, I think Laporte is arguably the next best centre back in the league. Then probably Matip based on performances over the last few years. If he can stay fit, and that's a big IF, then I think we'll see a lot of other fans and the media begin to take notice of how good a player Joel Matip is over the course of this season.
I think Jookie might just be the best fisherman on this thread.
