It's not his fault Sterling can't finish.

He see's him in training every day, he either knows he has the ability to take chances or he doesn't.

None of them are "on form".

I'd start by playing players in positions they know how to play and are experienced in.

Johnson centre half, Markovic left back, sterling striker, Henderson right hand side.

New formation, maybe 2 new formations, players looked lost.

Feel bad for Sterling, but he puts one of those in the net and it's a different game. Lovren, nice assist on that goal. Allen, not sure why he's still playing. Coutinho, he needs to worker harder defending or being intelligent enough to stay with a player especially when 2 of our players parted the seas for Valencia to run into the box.

DeGea man of the match no doubt. So some positives to take from this game. Shit result anyways.

We're a shambles. Can't score and can't defend. I can't believe the mess we find ourselves in. What a difference a few months make. Not sure where we go from here but I do know nothing will improve anytime soon.

Sorry but we weren't terrible ,we certainly weren't good be we definitely played better than them but shite happens.
This season as a whole, we have been. Defence is still poor, and we don't play as a team at all. Where was our midfield for their 3rd goal?
I would honestly let Wijnaldum jizz in my face right now

They were worse than we were, genuinely one of the worst United teams I've seen.

But they still won 3-0, which says a lot about our issues at both ends of the pitch.

It's true isn't it. They are poor. The goalie is boss like.

Probably our third best performance of the season after Spurs (3-0) and Man City, where we were also comfortably beaten (1-3), which says a lot.

Balotelli was a real threat and actually wants to score which is why he needs to play. Coutinho, Lallana, Henderson and Sterling are all players who like to dribble or pass. They want to assist, not score goals.

Anyway, what is there to say? We gifted them two goals either side of a great finish from the linesman. Brad Jones literally allowed them to pass it into the net twice.

If there's no improvement over Christmas then it'll be season over in the league, but I'd continue with today's tactics just because we were so much better at creating chances against an admittedly poor, lucky side with a top class goalkeeper.

Unfortunately, as far as today goes, Brendan made big calls and they resulted in a poor loss with Jones and Gerrard hopeless, Toure doing well when he was forced off, and Lallana inexplicably benched at half-time despite being our second-best player.

Worrying times.

Come off it. You could certainly take issue with the first but for the second he's had to come from the other side of the goal.

3 years, £220m spent and he's said no one comes in without his say so and this is the culmination. A team that can't defend that can't score. How the fuck is this anyone else fault other than the managers.

hoenstly thinking he does, gerrard and allen in that position ffs, markovic as a wingback, johnson as a centre back, Hendo right wing back - fucking ridiculous from him

Reading that makes me sad how right it is.

Hendo should never play on the wing, never. He's useless there.
Pretty happy with Arse taking it.

Its his fault he didnt play a striker in the first place.
None of our strikers are mobile enough to create those chances.  Not playing a striker wasn't the issue.  Sterling just has to be better, and smarter.  You get in those positions and you HAVE to either score or create the goal.  No ifs, ands, or buts.

What exactly was jammy about their win today?

Rode their luck a bit didn't they? Conceded 19 shots. Most teams would have scored a few of those chances.

Get given a crucial offside goal just before half time. Not saying they didn't deserve a win, but they could have been in trouble on another day

Fucking weak as piss from the management right through to the 11 shithouses in yellow. Awful, awful signings, an astronomical amount of money spent and wasted, players who excelled last year are now hiding this year, a manager who clearly has zero defensive coaching ability....you could go on! A dreadful United side made to look good by our shortfalls and a gutless performance by those wearing the shirt today. Pathetic!

Not going to be a good season, there will be no corner turning.

Gerrard and Allen were dreadful. When was the last time we dominated a midfield? Allen offers nothing, he's too weak in games like this (nice - a central midfielder signs for Liverpool and immediately turns vegan).

Can't be arsed with Lovren. Don't want to see him in a Liverpool shirt again. Jones poor for two of the goals. Hard to find positives from that game, I'd love a keeper like De Gea. All of their 'shite' players looked good too.

So just to sum up, our GK is pretty crap and dives the wrong way. The linesman is crap and awards something that is 5 miles offside. Our main centreback purchase of the summer is just completely awful. Allen and Gerrard were totally anonymous and porous for the most part. Coutinho and Lallana did alright and created some really good chances for Sterling whose finishing was awful. So we took off one and brought on another who continued his fine form of shooting pretty much in the vicinity of the keeper even though he was absolutely tremendous. We are shite. But that was one of the better performances this season and if we take our chances at the next game, we will probably win comfortably.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

Rodgers is gone by January in my opinion. So much money spent and we go to Old Trafford without a striker and our £20m defender gifts them a goal. Terrible tracking back from midfield for the first goal while Lucas sits on the bench after being our best player for the past few games and while Raheem is wasting chance after chance Borini is sitting somewhere wondering why the fuck he ever decided to stay and battle for his place. The owners aren't stupid, today could be said that De Gea was their saviour but although he was class if we had a striker who could finish it would have been a different result, and they will know that after watching Suarez and Sturridge last season.

Don't understand why he brought Lallana off at half time when he was the one finding all the openings in their defence and setting up Sterling.

What about the  3 we conceded? That was hardly vintage United but defensively he clearly does not know how to set a team up and improve them as individuals. We can't buy our way out of this so what is the answer?

Before the usual pricks kick off, lets look briefly at the game...

They broke away from a good save and scored.
Theyre second was a offside goal. No if or buts or red tinted glasses.
The 3rd comes when we are commiting too far forward, which we have to do as we are losing. Granted it was a very poor attempt at a clearance from Lovren too
Theyre keeper has pulled of, what, 5 TOP TOP saves. Not ones where he is diving full tilt across his goal line, but ones where he has stood tall, put an arm out or got down low well and fast etc, but 5 great saves. Said keeper gets the MOTM award.

Also, from another poster who cant be arsed sifting through the usual shite in here...

So near yet a million miles away. Take our chances and it is a different game. One real shocker from the lino killed the game as we had to chase more then and we were leaving ourselves vulnerable to the counter as their third goal showed. That Liverpool team had every chance to do something in this game. Our confidence is low and we are desperate for some goals to bring back that confidence. Rodgers needs our backing more than ever.
Absolute tripe. People keep saying this (and that Man Utd and Van Gaal are shite). A few buy this, but most don't. This is a liverpool team that has negative GD after 13 games and have lost more games than won this season.

Did Brendan choose these awful signings?  If so then he needs to accept the responsibility.  If FSG chose the signings then they should keep out of managerial affairs!

We started with no strikers, and ended up with Ballotelli playing (shit as per usual).....

Why in the fuck was Lovren brought back in?  For the United game of all fucking games.  Having said that, yeah Lovren is very, very, very, shit but this isnt just a problem with the players.  The whole system i flawed.  I don't see Brendan learning from his mistakes at all so somethings gotta give.  I'm not advocating that he goes but really where the fuck are we gonna end up under his management?

Come off it. You could certainly take issue with the first but for the second he's had to come from the other side of the goal.
He takes a step to his right anticipating a shot when he didn't need to, it's not like he was way over on his left and needed to cover the near post. He did the same for the goal, it's clearly something he does and today it didn't pay off.
