I don't think the club can do anything about him, I mean technically he's just doing his job properly.

If they gave him a warning or moved him, he could kick up a fuss to the FA or whoever, and say the club are punishing him for making fans sit down which he is supposed to be doing and the club could face fines and be forced to enforce sitting across the kop. It's an unwritten agreement between the club and fans, that nobhead just decides to ignore it

The fans can always give him a tough time, like mentioned earlier, taking pictures of the bastard and calling him out. But could the FA do anything about that? Bullying a steward.

This is not a football article but it points to trends across sports in which the home field/pitch/court isn't as big as it used to be. It is specifically about the NBA but this part can certainly be shared with modern football:

Look at the home crowd at any point in a game and chances are you'll find plenty of people too busy glancing at their phones to care about the game. Facebook and the guy at the free throw line are battling for your attention, and many believe Facebook is winning.

Fans root for the home team -- when they're not on their phones. It's plausible. Furthermore, the widespread growth of corporate boxes may make the games less populated by the most rabid fans. Compounding that effect is that the HD television experience has improved so dramatically that hard-core fans may rather stay home and watch League Pass instead of ponying up the cash to go to the game.

Social media has a hand in this too. DVR and League Pass have allowed fans to Vine their own clips and share them across the world within seconds. Rather than cheering the latest dunk, they are switching the filters on it in Instagram.

This brings us back full circle to accountability for referees. Make a bad call 15 years ago and you just hope it didn't make it onto "SportsCenter." Now, you hope your boss or your nephew or your neighbor isn't texting you video of it.

How about a big banner with his number 658 on it and a subtle personification of this desperate individual?    Maybe a song about him?   " Stand up for the 658, stand up for the 658 etc",  as the old adage goes, there is more than one way to skin a cat.

Just found a boss clip of my lad waving his flag at the front of the Kop as usual, he is only 9 and he has done this for 2 seasons now, the flag lads from OTK and spionkop1906 all know him and encourage him, makes me proud every time I see him doing his bit to contribute to the traditions and atmosphere of Anfield and the Kop  :)

I love the several of the colours for this flag with the white background and red liver bird. Am I right in saying there is another similar flag on the Kop that has a red border that runs around it? Or is this the flag and i'm imagining the red border? Either way, brilliant flag.

Always wanted to wave one on the Kop but I struggle getting tickets in there. Maybe one day.  ;D

You are right, there is a guy in 105 behind the goal who has had a similar flag for a few years there now, red border and has a Hillsborough flame beside the liver bird.

Said to me dad before we went in I was looking forward to being told to sign on from people from the wealthy streets of the east end. Was honestly appalled by their victim chants as well they sung it multiple times, not surprised though. Only really Spurs/Arsenal who I have any respect for from London.

A guy next to my mate two rows behind me in the main stand left at half time after slating Henderson all half.  Apparently he said ''I'm not watching anymore of this crap''.

Thought atmos was quiet today but also that West Ham fans were poor, not only in terms of shit songs but also for general volume.

Not sure if SportsNet in the US mess around with the volume, but the away fans sounded pretty loud. Also, you could hear many individuals shouting stuff at players which I don't remember hearing on TV so many times in one game at Anfield.

It really was the poorest atmosphere I witnessed through TV this season. No voice at all from the kop until we scored the second.

Someone said to me on here that they tried a singing section?

What actually happened with that and why did it get scrapped or didnt work?

Best example of this working is palace fans. As much as I hate selhurst, you cannot deny the atmosphere is quality, mainly because everything is started by those 1000 people in the far left of the ground and during the game at times other people join in

Dont know why we give so much of the anny to away fans. Probably some rule but our allocation seems so small at the likes of Old Trafford compared to giving away fans half the Anny. We were shite. can't believe that so many are groaning when it's obvious this team is a young team that's going to be special witha bit of patience. Lost a bit respect for West Ham, all the generic usual small time chants that you expect coupled with that always the victim shite. They used to have a bit of originality about them.

It seems to me that all away fans coming to Anfield have an itinerary of songs. The Sign On one, Atmosphere one Library one and the Steve Gerrard one being top of the list. There is very little originality coming from fans these days but West Ham used to come up with a gem now and then. Sadly not yesterday. I put it down to them having a good run in the league and their bandwagon swelling with some beauts attending their first game for ten years. But as for the others it's like the team they're supposed to be supporting is secondary. Winding the Scousers up is priority.  ::)

The 306 block should be in the middle or in the front of the kop, really sad that people dont join in. We should also have a "singing section" in block 124/125 in anny and MX in main stand but those blocks are usually thomas cook whopper central number one.

The problem can be so easily fixed if the club wants to, without losing more then 2-3million in profit. A better atmosphere could be potenitally worth 10points extra a season or a trophy, just ask Inter, Madrid, Barca, Roma, Juve etc that, we would have a shot on goal against those teams if the atmosphere were the same as Saturday.

Two way street with 306. Yes, starts loads of songs and people in other don;t join in, yet when singing starts from other area's, 306 on many occasions will not join in or will song another song.

Its all very elitist, poor supportish and petty, to be honest. You should just sing and get behind the team, no matter where you sit, or think who or what you are to the support.

Ah yes. The Cockney songbook.

Even the likes of Swansea and Villa have adopted it now.

All the same half a dozen shite songs that everyone else sings in the away section at Anfield.

All full of themselves slapping each other on the back because, well, you know, they're all so whitty and dead original.  ::)    :wanker

When you have the likes of Midlesborough fans singing sign on, or in your Liverpool slums, you know the world is on it's head.  I mean, last time I was there, Midlesborough was like the garden of eden. Honest.  ;)

had some bloke in front of us walking out yesterday fuming. For some reason he didn't realise the West Ham goal at the end had been disallowed, and he spent the entire way out absolutely fuming about Mignolet losing us another clean sheet  ;D

We have to. Premier League rules state that you have to offer 10% of the capacity of the ground if under 30,000 capacity or 3,000 if over 30,000 capacity. That's why it seems so small compared to Old Trafford, because 3,000 out of 75,000 seems a lot less than 45,000.

The 306 block should be in the middle or in the front of the kop, really sad that people dont join in. We should also have a "singing section" in block 124/125 in anny and MX in main stand but those blocks are usually thomas cook whopper central number one.

That would be small-time in my opinion - the 'hardcore' fans always sit next to the away end at places like Bolton, Swansea etc - ours should be on the Kop.

I think the 'singing section' should be moved from 306 to the side of the Kop - that way it's closer to the pitch and everyone can still stand without obstructing the view of others. I also think if you want to sit on the Kop then you're in the wrong stand but that's another debate.

Some mad bastard in 305 yesterday wanting to start every song himself. Fair play to anyone who wants to sing but fuck me this guy was literally screeching the words out. 'ALL TOGETHER NOW, WE 'ATE NOTTINGHAM FOREST', 'AND COULD E PLAY'....

Sure im not the only one to hear him. Was getting some funny looks around us. Mad bastard.  ;D
We’ll still finish in top four - and they won’t. You can quote me on this in May.

To be honest, I'd prefere a few mad bastards, to the corpses that sit in front of me in 208.

One of these days, I'm going to ask a steward to check if they have a pulse.   ???
