It’ll be hilarious if they get a points deduction. It sounds like they’ve tried to avoid any financial penalty for tapping up Silva because they’re already paying out millions on their own reneged contracts.

However, I don’t see it as any worse (less so actually) than the Spurs stadium fiasco. It’d be harsh if Everton were docked points while Spurs, having messed around the whole league this season, get no punishment.

It’s also fairly difficult to get new players/managers without tapping up these days as everything is done on the quiet. I’m all for docking them points anyway but have they acted worse than other clubs or did Watford just take offence?

And with Watford’s track record of burning through managers you can hardly blame Silva for wanting to speak to other clubs.

Somehow it's more catastrophic when the target is the manager and it's mid-season. Tap a player up prior to an approach in the transfer window and it doesn't lead to you hovering above the relegation zone after an impressive start.
