Great post.

This is a pretty funny clip of Korean announcers of that final.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benítez admitted after the match that the manner of his side's victory had stunned him and he stated: "My problem is that I don't have words to express the things that I feel at this moment"

This is an awesome game. The most popular online game on Valve. They have done a tremendous job on this game and the recent international was spectacular.

The problem for most newbies is the difficult learning curve. I can recommend this you tube page:www.youtube.com/user/PurgeGamers

Good tutorials on mechanics, positioning and hero roles

Started playing this a week ago. Almost completed training, takes me back to my WoW days, with the focus being on builds, stats and items. Love playing Death Prophet.

Drow Ranger is just disgustingly op against low-tier opponents. I've been racking up around 20 kills + few deaths with this hero. And shit.. all it takes is someone to gank and nuke her squishy ass early on.

I find playing her utterly boring. True about being OP though. Spirit Breaker for me right now, love ganking with that char, not all about kills, but helping the team.

Very true. I'm pretty much just using her to learn the carry role better. Any reason why she isn't used on the pro scene much?

Drow was banned in Captain's Mode until recently, which is the one used in tournaments. As of the last big patch she's back in, but a couple other heroes were removed from CM until they get fine tuned (Huskar and Medusa).

Also remember that her ultimate's bonus disappear if an enemy hero gets close, so she can be easy prey for melee opponents.

As of the last patch, Medusa is back into Captain's Mode.

There is a new game mode, and it's pretty fun: Captain's Draft lets you ban & pick from a pool of 24 heroes (8 of each attribute), with a very limited amount of time.

my first terrible experience with griefers and trolls has happened. :butt

Firstly I called mid first with Kunkaa but then some guy who was playing drow decided that didn't matter and was farming in the same lane as me. I politely asked him to move on because it's not helping both of us. Of course he refused. Then his mate who was playing as Ezalor tped me to the platform in the jungle on purpose. Soon followed by insults blah blah and his reasoning was "you need farm". Then I tried to get a tp scroll but they kept cancelling it by controlling the courier - so I was stuck there. I did eventually abandon and reported them. Unfourtunately for me I assume they both reported me as well so I am now low priority.  :butt

And of course they were Russian.

You'll find those from time to time, sadly. Fortunately, they are the minority, and Valve's report system works pretty well.

Had the same with a Bara yesterday.
After the SP called mid he fed like there was no tomorrow.

Also new patch coming some time soon:
http://dev.dota2.com/showthread.php?t=109826

Bloodseeker:
- Base movement speed reduced from 305 to 300
- Thirst is now global instead of 6000 range
- Thirst bonus now stacks for each unit that is low HP
- Thirst HP threshold increased from 20/30/40/50% to 50%
- Thirst movement speed bonus reduced from 15/25/35/45% to 7/14/21/28%
- When Thirst is active, movement speed cap is removed on your hero
- Thirst no longer provides armor bonus
- Thirst provides bonus 7/14/21/28 damage
- Thirst no longer grants full hero vision around low HP targets, it only shows their model
- Thirst no longer lasts for an extra 3 seconds when the target is dead

And many other pretty deep changes to game mechanics.

Yes but it had a limited radius unlike now and (I think) you could target them which is not possible now.

Yeah I've played a few games with my mate and working together it's quite easy to bait her out and get that stun.

Other times the team just let her snowball and dominate the lane which gets really fustrating when I start geting flamed on for losing the damn lane.

Thats annoying yeah.
She is a bit better as before the patch but not as op as she was made out to be upon release of the patch notes.

Who really annoys me since the patch is Rikimaru though.

Mostly Chinese teams I guess?
They more often than not play 4 protect 1 (anti mage, alchemist, naga etc.).
That changed a bit since the patch but generally that was their meta game.

Pretty much all EU teams I watch (I haven't watched a lot of eastern games) tend to tri lane the easy lane whilst have a solo offlaner.
