Disconnects are fustrating as hell, lost two games because people just dc and don't come back.

 Anyway took your advice with Diffusal and it paid off, was very effective. Tranquil boots I disagree purely due to levels 1-8 the hp regen is nice while I'm not fully effective with backstab-smoke-gtfo  routine but once I get past that I hold them until I can get phase boots or Power Treads

Also, been playing Witch doctor a bit, any tips on what sort of hero's he works best with. Had a viper,Jugg,Tree hero (one who can raise tree's and trap enemies) and that was fairly effective in terms of keeping them up but we lacked the tanking power despite my healing. Any advice so me and my friends can work with it would be great

Two sets of boots is pointless. Vladimir is much better than Tranquil in the long run (before one of the latest patches, you could disassemble the latter and use its parts for Vlad's... no more, sadly).

Heroes with stuns and burst damage are your friends. You have one of the best stuns in the game, and maledict is great to finish off low hp enemies. Axe, Sven, Chaos Knight are all fun teammates for WD.

Oh, and you can use Shadow Blade while channelling your ultimate.  8)

Never thought of that, will deffo try it. Currently I go Mekanism, Aghanims,Arcane and Urn of shadows to help with healing then wards/Tp scolls to get around and help the fight.  I do love Death ward when used correctly It can be devastating.

A good combination (especially early on) is Tusk/Centaur, quite easy to get a first blood and rack up kills as you can burst most heroes without a decent escape really quickly

Batrider / bloodseeker is nice too, combining the ultis (or use pudge/ bloodseeker, a nice long hook)

VG took the first game, Newbee came back in the second.


Still can't believe how hard EG threw away in the third game all their good work from the second (Losers' Bracket final was Bo3).

Yeah, last two matches were sort of underwhelming. Great tournament, but the finale lacked the crazy moment that last year had ("Million dollar dream coil").

It wad obvious once vici went AA and Nature that the game was thrown like 1 and 2. Doom and blink is a brilliant straightforward tactic to counter vici game plan.

I'm a total novice when it comes to DOTA, but had fun watching some of those games over the weekend, best play I remember seeing was in one of the final matches, someone on Newbee playing as Puck (I think) was being chased down by Nature's Prophet managed to pop a heal or something, then teleported backwards and killed NP from behind. Felt like the DOTA equivalent of scoring an overhead kick.

After the finals ended I watched the Giant Bomb quick look of Heroes of the Storm, damn that game looks basic next to DOTA.

As if an eyeless seeker of blood isn't frightening enough, perhaps Bloodseeker's changes will push him over the top. Along with a host of other changes, Bloodbath has been replaced by the new ability Blood Rite. You can now baptize an area in the Blood of the Twins, to show that they are always watching.

DAMAGE TYPE CHANGES
 A few abilities and damage type mechanics have been reworked. There are now three primary damage types and a Spell Immunity Piercing status with each. Each ability now carries a notation in the tooltip indicating these.

 The three damage types are Physical, Magical and Pure.

Physical is affected by Physical Armor, Magical is affected by Magical Damage Resistance and Pure is affected by neither.

 Magic Immunity has now been renamed to Spell Immunity. Spell Immunity only defines if Spells interact with it, not how damage itself is handled. This means that on its own Spell Immunity status does not reduce any damage.

 Black King Bar, Repel, Rage and all other previous forms of "Magic Immunity" now grant Spell Immunity status and a 100% Magic Resistance bonus.

 In the vast majority of cases, the interactions are still the same, however an example of a case that would be different is if an ability has both Spell Immunity exception and has Pure damage type. Previously the damage would not have any impact, however now it does.

 Ability Tooltips now have these fields:

 -Damage Type: Physical/Magical/Pure
 -Pierces Spell Immunity: Yes/No

 If the Damage Type is not Magical it will be colored differently to make it easier to notice. The same is true in cases where Pierces Spell Immunity is Yes.

 There have been a few abilities rebalanced with these mechanics in mind. In some cases the intent is to maintain similar balance, in other cases as an adjustment to their balance.





Alchemist•Acid Spray damage type from Composite to Physical (still pierces Spell Immunity)
•Acid Spray damage reduced from 14/20/26/32 to 12/16/20/24




Bane•Nightmare damage from HP Removal to Pure




Beastmaster•Wild Axes damage type from Composite to Physical (still pierces Spell Immunity)

2) HP Removal: This is no longer considered a Damage Type, and its remaining uses are as an alternative cost to Mana for spells to use (Sunray, Burning Spears) or as functional HP modifications (Armlet, Sunder, etc). These are now considered usage costs in the game and are never lethal.

Product Update - Valve
- Initial preparation time in All Pick reduced from 30 to 15 seconds
- Randoming in All Pick now sets your remaining time to repick to 10 seconds (if you randomed while over 10 seconds remaining)

That was a terrible way to lose after how hard they stomped game 1, especially as C9 don't seem the emotionally strongest of teams. There's a really interesting post on reddit about why there were no TPs and the quick judgement of RTZ.

Valve has released a great comic for the next patch.

Looks like there will be a new hero (Wintern Wyvern) and Crystal Maiden will receive an arcana item. Also, CM is completely, terrifyingly nuts.  :o ;D

Such a pity with Secret I'd tipped them to win it on individual skill alone. Unfortunately the lack of a proper 1 player (both RTZ and kky are passable, but not true 1s in terms of mentality) limited their drafting considerably and once teams found out how to counter the drafts they were screwed. I still maintain a loss during the group stages would've helped them out a lot.

Alright guys,

I'm part of a gaming commutity that organianising a "casual cup" for dota 2. There's a cash prize on offer if you win (transfered by paypal)

It's not a try hard series and most of my community have donated. It's for mature gamers (why am i taking part then) and it should be a bit of a laugh, if people want to get 1 or 2 teams sorted, let me know in here and i'll post the link to the details (if that's ok mods)

It'll be down to the best of 3 rounds per game

It's happening early april, again i'll edit this post and gove the exact date this next week
