Reading through the last few pages only confirms that unfortunately we have some absolute fucking twats in our fan base. Everything we do as a football club is met with the same old moaning shite about how it could of been better if we did it another way or how the staff we have are shite or how the owners are just like the previous owners who almost ruined the club.

We are all disappointed in the way things have turned out tonight but why the need to embarrass both yourselves and the rest of the fan base with the same old hyperbolic bullshite that will no doubt crop up on a variety of other websites where people take the piss?

Have a bit of dignity and most of all support the fucking team.

I presume Carroll will be recalled from his loan in that case?

All the owners care about is balancing the books. We are completely fucked if something happens to Suarez.

And you just know something WILL happen.  The FA/refs/pundits/oppo fans/demento ... will make sure of that.

I actually believe Fulham quite simply didn't want to sell Dempsey to us. It's not like their owner is a level headed business man.

Quite possible.

We were a fucking laughing stock last year when Dalglish spent way over the top for Carroll, Downing and Henderson...at least now we are not just throwing money at clubs who want to rip us off.

And now we're a laughing stock for sending one of our three strikers out on loan and then being left high and dry without replacing him after also getting rid of Kuyt, Maxi etc.
Seriously we've seen the ruthless side of FSG when people have cocked up, will Ian Ayre escape this transfer deadline day debacle unscathed?

Only Rodgers was insisting on offloading Carroll not FSG.
I'm sure he was told buying a replacement was feasible, else he would have kept Andy.

I love the people using Leeds, Rangers and Portsmouth as examples to back up their argument to defend FSG. Conveniently overlooking the fact that our commercial deals and revenues dwarf those of these clubs. Wake up ffs.
Those commercial deals and revenue didn't keep the club from getting within an inch of registration under H&G.

Even Ian Dowie baffled on sky.  Saying 'we all know LFC have a fair bit of catching up to do.  They've got a new young and ambitious manager in.  I'm just baffled that they've got no-one in and let Carroll go'.

He makes a point to be fair.

A player can't be recalled from his loan if there is a fee in there, that's why West Ham paid 1m upfront.

I am pretty confident it was £6 million. Some places even have it reported as high as £8 million but I can't believe that.

I do know David Conn confirmed that Kenny did take the money.
interesting, wonder where the other story came from, anywho............

I can understand the frustration and some of the criticism in here hits home...but a lot of the comments in here are absolutely shocking. Defeatism at its absolute worst. Have a word with yourselfs for fuck sake. Agger and Skrtel stayed. Spearing and Adam went and we got Allen and Sahin as replacements. Its not all doom and gloom.

Meanwhile we actually have less strength up front than last season (an area which should have been our number 1 priority) and Spurs have signed Vertonghen, Adebayor, Dempsey, Lloris, Sigurdsson and Moutinho. We are definitely going to beat them this season!  ::)

I am sorry I don't understand this comment. Are you saying that it is possible for wages == transfer fees? I have no idea if wages and the transfer kitty are liquid assets in the eyes of the club. Do you know either way?

Maybe you have to read it more often to understand.... There was a possibility to raise money by selling players in order to bring in others. Those deals have to be prepared and players to bring in identified. So far it looked like only Rodgers had the right connections to do so (Allen, Borini, Sahin).

For bringing in attacking players after having shipped out the likes of Spearing, CArroll and ADam for good money, the people responsible, Ayre, fucked up the deals and weren´t able to bring in what Rodgers wanted.

It´s not so complicated really, happens in football all the time.

One thing does need to be said: in the post-Benitez era, there was media-led clamour (but also some politicking going on at the club) to make the club more English; the idea being that the club had lost the very essence of what it means to be ‘Liverpool’. Guillem Ballague 18/11/10

But FSG never spent 75M. We sold over 75M worth of players to buy Carroll, Downing, Henderson...
Yes but that doesn't change the fact we spent 75m on them.Joe Allen was bought for 15m and he has done more this season than Downing and Henderson since they signed.

Someone just said that the Red Sox also sold without investing significantly. Is that true?

They let go of 3 players that were owed $270 million in salary over the next five years.

I doubt we can recall Carroll - West Ham are paying his wages, plus a loan fee so he will be under contract with them for the whole season. If a club agrees to pay the players wages I don't think you can have a recall clause.

Doesn't matter it was still £75m look at spurs you can sell and still buy good players, Kenny fucked up and it's been said far too many times but it's true

Yes. Kenny fucked up. But the FACT that FSG are not making the type of investment that is required to get top 4 is a completely different issue. And frankly one we will pay for until they offload the club.

I think part of it may have had to do with Agger eventually staying. Because for a long time it seemed like a first team player had to be sold to raise funds for other players.

Also, as great as he is, we spent 15 million on Allen, and Rodgers may have been told this is your big hitter, and we won't stump up the cash for another player, unless it's minimal like Assaidi or Yesil.

Houllier received far more financial backing than Benitez and spent poorly with it. Benitez had to wheel and deal and scrimp and save and clear his team out. If Houllier left the club in good shape he wouldn't have been fired. That's what I'm on about.

Houllier left a squad that only needed Alonso and Garcia on top of it to become Champions of Europe. Houllier left us with Champions League football. Houllier left us in a good shape. It was the right time to leave because he ran out of ideas to push us on. That is where Benitez came in and pushed us on, but Houllier left a solid foundation for Rafa to build on.

Houllier left us in a better state than Benitez and Dalgish did.

Well said Lad, Easy to hold the Fsg line that Kenny failed, he wasn't given the time to fail to be fair.
Ah we differ in our opinion a bit mate, Kenny should have been given time to correct his failings. Downing is a year older, Henderson is not entering this season a much better player and there was always ambivalence about Carroll. FSG are probably still trying to fathom the madness that is football, but it doesn't make them any worse than other PL owners (until proved otherwise) and I'm confident they'll back Rodgers big time when necessary.
