Kanye West
« on: June 9, 2010, 07:53:17 pm »
So, what do people think of him and his music ? Personally I like both, love his arrogance. It's more about the music really. Love almost everything he has released.

I like his two first albums, after that, he went shite. The 808 and heartbreaks (or whatever) album is absolute carp.

he's a bit of a tit, but some of his work is very good. That said, put down the bloody vocoder.

I like that one as well. Yes, he uses autotune, but he's honest about it and it's still about the lyrics.
Imo there are at least 5 songs on there that would make great singles

College Dropout and Late Registration are class (and the production he was doing before and during those albums for other artists was probably the best at that time)

College Dropout was brilliant and my favourite album of his, stopped listening to his music after all the shit he did though the "Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time" makes me laugh and the internet spawn of that is equally as hilarious.

First two albums are very very good. I'm a massive fan but his standards dropped IMO as he tried to stay original.

I've seen him 3 times live and he's a bang average performer.

This is his new single http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ww4MjQT4uf4&feature=related ... bored of it already.

I have a soft spot for Ke$ha, any skank as unrepentantly filthy as she is will always get fifteen minutes from me.

Kanye is a self-absorbed, hysterical, pathetic cock, but he does have some modicum of talent. Unfortunately it's buried under his general twattishness.

Had a listen to it in the car this morning. Didn't know what to expect after 808 but it's a stormer of an album, a real return to form. It would appear that he has gotten the absolute best out of his guests aswell, it's stacked full of big names wih big verses.

Beast of an album.

Dark Fantasy is one of the best tracks you'll ever hear opening an album. Gorgeous and Devil in a New Dress are my two other favourite tracks. It's all killer no filler.

As somebody that's known of him since his days breaking through at Rocafella and The Blueprint success, I can safely say this is his zenith.

If he ever tops this record, I will be very, very surprised.

The self-assessment on Runaway is amazing - that song is a masterpiece.

Still not my favourite album of his, but it's definitely his best.

The new album is really, really, really good. It's huge, sprawling, goes all over the place but is not a mess, it perfectly encapsulates him.  I've listened to it 3 times in it's entirety today... definitely his best album.

Power is one of his best ever tracks.

Just saw that Pitchfork gave it a 10/10, wow. Don't think has ever happened before?
