I have never heard of anything like that before ???

I was just wondering because if we finished 5th and won it the team in 4th drops into the uefa cup just thought it might mean the team in second having to give up their automatic place in the first round.

Someone must have to lose  a guaranteed first round place somewhere if the winners get automatically but didn't get automatic entry via the league.

Dont know if anyones already mentioned it but Mourinho reckons Carvalho wont be fit. If thats the case its a massive loss to them. Hes one of the biggest fucking snides in the game but Crouch struggles against him.

I wonder is it the country thats on the UEFA cusp?

You know, like Barca winning last year meant Celtic qualified automatically...

His is one of the dirtiest players I've seen, and yes Crouch has struggled against him partly cos of the sly elbows he gets in. However I think Mourinho is kidding us... their players do habit of suddenly being fit again

In response to that blood comment,  i had heard they take their bloody and effectively 'clean' it taking out all the bad stuff (not sure what stuff that is) and then obviously putting the blood back in them. Its unusual to put it short.

Theres a chance I could miss seeing the match on the box.. gutted.

Would like to see crouch and bellamy up front. I think chelsea have looked  a little tired over the last few weeks and today they were lethargic at best. I'd fancy us over the two legs with milan beating man utd also.

If we win at the bridge it will be one of the best results under rafa.

I like it!

Lets all get 110% behind our team, the mighty Liverpool.

We can beat Chelsea, we did it at Anfield (and they were shocked) and we can do it at the bridge.

Everyone needs to believe that and everyone needs to be singing, louder than them!

When they come to Anfield they won't believe whats hit them, but if we do a PSV, Barca away, then we can make the most of the home leg.

Come on the red men!

A 0-0 would be good a score draw would be brilliant. A win would be out of this world.

I think we'll see Kuyt and Bellamy starting, Gerrard on the right, and Masch and Alonso in the middle. Almost definitely Riise on the left wing, with Arbeloa behind him at left back.

Stay solid at the back, and control the pace of the game. I really think we can win if our finishing is good- we should have beat them at their place in the league, but they took their only chance of the game (a half chance at that) and we failed to take at least 2 very good chances (Gerrard and Kuyt).

“This place will become a bastion of invincibility and you are very lucky young man to be here. They will all come here and be beaten son”

for me the team at the moment picks itself:

                                                         Reina

                             Finnan     Carragher       Agger     Arbeloa

                            Pennant     Alonso       Mascherano     Riise

                                                     Gerrard

                                                      Crouch

that would certainly be my team - especially with Essien, Ballack and possibly Carvalho out.

though it wouldnt suprise me if Gerrard started on the right with Pennant on the bench and Kuyt or Bellamy up top with Crouch.

from wiki :

Blood doping

...At present there is no accepted way of detecting autologous transfusions (using the athlete’s own RBCs) but research is in progress and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has promised that a test will eventually be introduced. The test method and its introduction date are to be kept secret in order to avoid tipping off doping athletes.

I can't see it to be honest, some kind of secret blood processing facility deep underground run by a ruthless ( probably Russian )  doctor...

No one loses out to fit us in if we win it. To clarify what happens:

The top two teams in the English League (Chelsea and United) go straight into the group stages and we would go into the Group stages as Titleholders (which is what should have happened in 2005) and as top seeds.

If the Titleholder spot is not used (for example if the winner has already qualified for the group stage like Barca last year) then that spot goes to the tenth ranked country whose champions would otherwise go into the 3rd Qualifying Round (Turkey in 2005 and Scotland last year).

The UEFA Access list is quite clear:

The 16 yeams with direct entry into the group stage

1 Titleholder
2 teams from the 1st ranked country - Spain
2 teams from the 2nd ranked country - Italy
2 teams from the 3rd ranked country - England
2 teams from the 4th ranked country - France
2 teams from the 5th ranked country - Germany
2 teams from the 6th ranked country - Portugal
1 team from the 7th ranked country - Netherlands
1 team from the 8th ranked country - Greece
1 team from the 9th ranked country - Russia

The 10th ranked country at the moment is Romania and their Champions would take the TH spot if Chelsea or United win this year.

I dont think Pennant will play (but will be on the bench for sure ) otherwise he would not have played a full game against Wigan.

I suspect Finnan , Agger , Cara &  Arbeloa.Midfield will be Gerrard on the right (to protect Finnan) but Gerrad will be allowed a role where he can also cut in.The other four in the midfield will be Momo,Alonso,Mascherano & Riise on the left.

Iam not sure who will play upfont.I have a feeling Kout will not start.

Who?  ???
It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

The blood doping thing is pretty simple.
You take a pint of blood out, keep it fresh for a week or so (by which time your body has replaced the lost blood) then you transfuse it back in on the big day, this means that you have about 12 1/2 % more red blood cells in your system which means that your body gets more oxygen (it's carried by the red blood cells) and gets rid of more CO2 through the same process.

The elevated blood pressure can be a bit nasty if you keep doing it, but it's not as bad as HPO which increases the number of red blood cells your body creates and is really dangerous, and detectable.

Anyway, let's twat these cockney rent boy wankers!

Mate, to be fair, it wasn't even a quarter chance really was it....

Doesn't matter really; it was nigh on impossible to defend by our side though as it was so unpredictable and such a class shot. We just have to make sure we take our chances.

Also, now that Carvalho looks like he may be out along with Ballack, and with Essien suspended- I'd say we've got a good chance of coming away with a good result.
