Reckon our support was about 30 OOT to 1 scouser so you are gonna get this sort of support.

No ale served in the game, because of persistent standing last season.

Reading the other night -
No drinking
No smoking
No standing

anything else we can't do ?  :butt

It's a football game for fuck sake, not the opera.  :no
I clutch the wire fence until my fingers bleed,
A wound that will not heal, a heart that cannot feel.
Hoping that the horror will recede,

No anything,
In fact I was sure they were going to make us sit with our finger(s) to our lips saying "Shush" and if that didn't work, then to the naughty seat you'd go!!

I agree that the no smoking thing is crazy, but:

Are people incapable of singing sat down?
Are people incapable of singing without being leathered?

Rules don't affect atmosphere, people do.

I watch the games in a pub in Prague and while I appreciate that the atmosphere doesn't come through the screen as much I have to admit that I sent an sms to a mate at the last home game asking if the atmosphere was really as bad as it seemed on the box. He replied that it was worse.

What happened to RTK? What is happening to "the best fans in the world"? If Anfield is really the best atmosphere in Europe then a lot of games must be being played in a graveyard.

Non-existant.

They were bought and then moved to a town called Pribram and re-named Marilla Pribram.

Anfield can be the best, our away support can be the best
most of the time isnt
not for the want of trying though, too many people just dont want to sing and support the club like this these days
and a lot of them, which should be main standers or in the kem are sitting smack in the middle of the kop

It seems many "new fans" read the Soccer AM  hand book before going to the match

1. Grown men wearing multiple scarves - one on each arm is obligatory.

2 Grown men wearing a jester hat

3. Grown men get their face painted

4. Club shop plastic flag wrapped round you or bring a St George’s cross bearing the name of the place you are from.

5. Sing "easeh" Who are yer” “shall we sing a song for you”  “your support is faaaackin shit” Red, blue green <insert colour> army and any other Lovejoy thinks is funny

I can’t wait for Wigan on Saturday but with 5000 tickets there’s bound to be a high percentage of socceramers

And they say TV does not influence the viewer.

If tv wants you to chant Easy to get your mug shown, you do it. Then others think they can chant it as well.

Sure, TV does not influence the viewer...lol

Are people incapable of singing sat down?

Yes - and if you knew anything about football fan culture you'd know why.

No - but not often you see sober people on the kareoke is it? After a drink people lose their inhibitions.

Nah you misunderstood, we all got in eventually. we sent the kids in so they only missed 15 - 20 mins. Then me and my mate got in at half time with reprints. The ticket office manager said he would make an exception as there was only the 2 of us. It was deffo a case of perseverance winning the day. We were just about to fuck off to pizza hut when we decided to have 'one last try' ;D

Ah right, I got ya. Why on earth they had to wait until h/t to issue reprints though I don't know.

Higher than Shorey? You're having a bubble me old china.

Won a fiver off me mate for saying the last one would definitely be 24 LONG, not whether or not it was going to be higher/lower. lol The Reading dans don't half have to put up with some rubbish!

Why can't people sing sitting down? Elton John can, so can that bloke out of Coldplay who plays the piano. Just because you're not standing up doesn't mean you have to be quiet.

So because I am living and working in Prague it makes me less of a fan?

Because I am living and working outside that shit hole called Britain makes me care less?

Because I am willing to stick my head up and say something make me a tit?

Because on a Saturday afternoon we get grief from Scum/Chekski/Arsenal fans going on about how shitty the atmosphere is at Anfield these days makes me unqualified to have an opinion?

Because I don't moan about every little slight, whether real or imagined in a paranoid mind means I am out of touch?

Bollocks.

Sorry, I forgot that us OOTs aren't real fans, even after 25 years fandom and god knows how much money spent on merchandise.

And of course everything wrong with the atmosphere is the fault of the few OOTs that get tickets.

Oh and I also forgot that OOTs are just expected to tow the party line.

So rather than actually thinking to yourselves "it's not just us that have noticed the problem" you decide to have a go.

RTK promised so much, but it is the apathy of the average fan in the seats that is causing the problem, nothing else.

BHB, NickoH etc - cut the Prague lad some slack, eh?

I think perceptions of how things come across on TV are pretty valid. We're all mighty proud of ourselves when our mates (at home in front of the telly, presumably) tell us how great we sounded. So let them join in the debate about the bad things as well, why not?

Is an entirely semantic difference, a rose by any other name.....

Admittedly I am lucky that the pub I drink in has every Liverpool match on the box.

It wasn't always the case with this pub, but because we spoke with the owner and guaranteed him business he gets every Liverpool game. And I watch over 99% of the games, not just the big ones but every single one.

I have hassled bar owners in Minsk to find a channel with the games when I was there.

There are 'bad' OOTs, granted, but good, loyal ones too, in there same way theres plenty of 'bad' local support.

Of course it's not.  A fan doesn;t have to get behind the team and support them, whereas a supporter does.

There are 'bad' OOTs, granted, but good, loyal ones too, in there same way theres plenty of 'bad' local support.

But OOTs are more likely to be clueless than scousers, so if there are a significant proportion of OOTs in a crowd then in all probability there will be more whoppers than a wholly scouse crowd. There are, of course, both 'bad' OOTs and scousers but it is true when talking in general terms and especially with the 30:1 ratio mentioned above.

IMO it's only divisive if the 'good' OOTs get pissed off at something which isn't aimed at them.

Certainly not, it makes you a twat though criticising the atmosphere from the comfort of an armchair in Prague. "SORT IT OUT" you say? Why the fuck don't you come over and help?

Oh yeah, you're not interested in that but I bet you'll happily claim the credit for a great atmosphere and boast to your "Chekski" and "Scum" mates.

People like you and the attitude you have are the problem and you don't even see it.

The only "good" OOT....no, no, stop now.

Couldn't have said it better myself :)
