Our fantastic away support
« on: December 2, 2006, 05:28:27 pm »
I know it's easy to get carried away with our win today, but our away support and not just today has been immense.

When you think that before the match today we'd not won an away league game with one goal scored, isn't it heart warming to know that we have support like that?

Absolute massive kudos to everyone of them, and I know that a lot of RAWKites will have been there today and most other aways.

You are the lifeblood of our great club.  :scarf

Thank you, Terry... :wave

All I could hear on the radio today was The Fields Of Anfield Road and You'll Never Walk Alone. Could not hear any Wigan fans, we practically turned it into a home game!

Superb support today :scarf

If you could pocket that support and let it off at everygame, we wouldn't need a manager.

question should be - why was it so good - in relation to getting back the atmosphere inside anfield.

was it cos sat 3pm k.o
was it cos we played well from the off.
was it cos it wasn't just st holders with 8 credits.
was it cos those few thousand there were in the mood for it?
was it cos those few thousand were by and large inside the ground in their specs a good half hour before k.o?
was it cos its nearly xmas  :)

was it a combo of all of the above?

I was there today and you're right, our support was ABSOLUTELY FUCKING BRILLIANT!

We sang our hearts out. All the favourites plus there were genius chants like 'you should've stuck to the rugby' and 'you should have gone Christmas shopping.'

The hatred of Kelvin Mackenzie was apparent aswell as we belted out 'STICK YOUR FUCKING SUN UP YOUR ARSE,' 'IF YOU ALL HATE MACKENZIE CLAP YOUR HANDS' AND 'THERE'S ONLY ONE LYING BASTARD.'

Overall it was a cracking day out in Wiggers. I'll have the vids on You Tube soon.

Just got back from this one, a really good atmosphere. All the classics sung, and it was good to see MacKenzie getting plenty of stick ("Theres only one lying bastard", "If you hate the sun clap your hands" and "Justice for the 96"). Loads of "Don't buy the Sun stickers around" and a few of the Justice and Hillsborough banners, with a few down at the front of NS7. The Wigan fans gave a rendition of "Are you watching Michael Shields" but it was pretty well drowned out.  All round a very good atmosphere.

Bad point were seeing the stewards telling the fella to remove the large "Liverpool FC ...... and could they play banner". He had hung it down into the wheelchair enclosure in NS5/NS6 (the enclosures that were accessed by a separate door). It was hanging in front of a brick wall but was also blocking a Heinz advertising board, so had to come down apparently. The fella was fuming though, and rightly so.

But, on the way out, as crossing that stupid little bridge over the canal, there was a group of reds behind us. At first they were singing "Get the woolies out the kop", this then quickly turned into "Get the niggers out the kop". Then it became "someone is white", I couldnt quite make out who they were singing about, but I thought it may have been the momo one. They then concluded with "Everton are racist, Everton are racist, and so are we...na na na na". Seems like we still have a fair share of nobs which I was quite disappointed to see.

First away game of the season, and was a fucking great day out.

Hats off to everyone there, as we didnt stop singing and got our just rewards with the performance.

Loved the sun chants..'You can shove ya fucking sun up ya ass' 'one lying bastard' 'justice for the 96' all belted out load and proud.

Wigan fans were a joke. And so was the fact loads of people were left without ale at half time.

It was a great atmosphere today. I dont get to that many aways due to work and finances but when I do I look forward to it, I enjoyed today.

I think one of the reasons why the atmos is not so good at Anfield is the sense of occasion. With the aways, going to the game on the coach for a few hours, with a few bevies and singing on the coach before hand. Its more of a day out, also for aways when I do go we always get tickets together to sit in a group which will be the same for others I expect. There are probably a few factors but it just seems at Anfield most fans are just going through the motions of going the game.

Some great support today with Hillsborough support chants and banners, anti McKenzies. Wonder how loud the anti sun/mckenzies will be on sky footy first tonight, will be good to highlight this on a national scale as I havent seen any coverage on the usual channels.

It was good singing our main repertoire loudly and throughly as well as a few Gary Macca's and some Wigan baiting :p.

Cant wait for my next away.

But i wouldn't respond by telling a person in a wheelchair to stand up, its just bang out of order.

Aye thats alright like, only joking, i don't mind insults like ugly/fat/old etc, but taking the piss out of a disablitity isn't right, anyway don't need any more posts about this.

That aside we did ourselves and the 96 proud with our chants.
