Brilliant. So long as they don't cross the line with racial/homophobic slurs, so long as they're responsible with the flares and the smoke bombs, so long as there's no violence or stupidity of any other kind that crosses the line, given the exorbitant amount of money these clubs charge the lifeblood of this very game? Can do whatever the fuck they like.

Football's the working class' game, once a week the lads are supposed to go down and watch their local club with their mates and have fun. It's not a fucking backdrop for a corporate meeting where men in suits who know nothing about what's going on on the pitch sit in the stands and hash out deals, it's not a fucking cinema, where you sit there and shut the fuck up for 90 minutes, then get up and go home. It's a fucking football game, and the crowd plays a vital role in the atmosphere, and the atmosphere at all of our away games has been superb.

 Keep it up lads.

Well put. When I heard they let a smoke bomb off in the train or whatever , I think that is going too far and that is bad form.

It looks great. The pictures above are brilliant. The players I'm sure absolutely love it and everyone bounces off each other. The fans are louder because  the players are reacting to the atmosphere and vice versa.

Honest question - Are the flares any danger to the surrounding people?

If no, then I really don't understand what the problem is. It's just awesome. Plus, the rest of Europe have them all the time.

I've been wondering this too. I was at a  league of Ireland game about 10 years ago and some lad let a flare off right where we were and people we getting sick and all. These are smoke bombs though but I presume the contents of the smoke bomb arnt good for you?

Do they hold them or just leave them on the ground? Would that not result in people getting sick and smoke going into your eyes and on your clothes?

Anything Liverpool do well on/off the pitch winds him up mate.

My favourite part of the game was when the main commentator shouted "HANDBALL!" as if he was actually trying to claim it to the ref. Good grief.

When I have been to an away the bombs are thrown on the floor and anyone nearby covers their mouths with their scarfs/ coats etc, a few mins later the worst of it has gone.

or if the fire touches you, I don't know if they are dangerous or not, I do know that we have fought an injustice against our fans for 24yrs. Do we really need smoke bombs, we have managed without them for long enough.

Because it looks dangerous and we have been branded hooligans before when it wasn't true,

Do one dickhead. You obviously don't know who you were telling to fuck off. And coming from Perth, I very much doubt you know anyone at the match let alone the lads that let the smoke bombs off. Don't bother answering. I won't respond. I have no time for knobheads that speak like you did to people, when you don't even know who they are.

Grow some respect, you Pratt.
haha buddy you have no idea. To put it in perspective, I would own decent property if i didn't spend my hard earned doing 20 hour round trip to england to watch liverpool play home and away.

I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say, it was my experience that Liverpool fans were called hooligans, when in actual fact they were heroes, it took a long time to change peoples minds that we are not hooligans. I see somebody has posted a picture of a smoke bomb in action, a referee could stop a game if that got much worse and then we all know what the headlines would be.

Regarding the smoke bombs It's the same group of lads every week, was down at the front by them at Reading but near the back today.  It does create a good atmosphere but it is dangerous as they were all thrown onto the pitch from about 10-15 rows back so could quite easily hit somebody.  Amazed no one got kicked out today as it was very obvious who was doing it.

Great away day!

Great atmosphere towards the end and in the first half.

I had a flare/smoke bomb going off beside me at Villa Park, and apart from it stinking the place out, it was fine. I had kids infront of me today and they were loving the fireworks and flares/smokebombs.

Best away support in the country.

People seem to be talking about flares and smoke bombs like they are the same thing when they are not!

I love them but it is beginning to look like a good fun thing that livens up a sterile stadium that is beginning to get a little out of hand. If the away support could somehow control the amount of smoke bombs that were released, great, most would turn a blind eye, but when they are starting to be released in larger quantities, or on trains, or in the bogs like at st James park, then the authorities will stop turning a blind eye and targeting the support on mass, stopping games or even punishing the club...

Like I said, I love em but...

Out of interest have we used any actual flares this season?

The games i've been too and the ones i've seen on the tele they've been smoke bombs only, and a couple bangers. I haven't seen any actual flares.

Smoke bombs really aren't dangerous unless someone somehow chokes on a bit of smoke

Saw 3 people being marched out of the stadium to the left, two at HT and one just into the second half.

I think one was for racism... I heard someone shout something racist towards a steward midway inside the first half. At half time he was being marched out of the stadium...

I do think less is more, and like them going off when we score. Not fussed on them going off at random times and outside of the stadium, although Reading was an exception.

Smoke bombs are boss and I don't think they're dangerous. They make the away end more colourful and create a better atmosphere.

Pisses me off when people think smoke bombs are flares. Smoke bombs emit smoke, flares emit light. Really easy to tell the difference. I've only seen two flares all season but numerous smoke bombs.

The stewards were onto the lads letting them off at HT today. Saw a lot of people getting chucked out. It really isn't tricky to spot who's doing it, it's the same group of lads at every game. The stewards are only doing their job but it's annoying.

In general I thought the away end was decent today. Good atmosphere throughout, particularly after the 3rd goal.
