Surprising, but very good, move for #LFC U23s defender George Johnston. He's off to Feyenoord on a permanent deal after @Kuyt called the Reds for a recommendation. Was into the last year of his deal. LFC will receive a small fee.

Seems a bit odd getting him to sign a new contract rather than just selling, but I guess the cost of his contract is less than we would get from any potential fee next season.

He signed in January 2018, so his deal will run out in the summer of 2020 (2 and a half years). The alternative would be for his contract to run out in January 2021, which would never happen. He would not have been able to sign a contract lasting until summer 2021.

With Phillips, Johnston and Rhys Williams all loaned or sold, it will be interesting to see who will be our primary CBs at the youth levels. I would expect VanDenBerg to see lots of u23 action. Hoever will likely partner him a great deal (with neco Williams at RB). I actually fancy hoever more as a full back than cb but as needs must.
That leaves Tom Clayton, Billy Koumetio maybe Niall Brookwell as u18 cb options (surely I’ve forgotten someone).

Abdi Sharif, who recently signed his first pro contract, has done his ACL and will likely be out for the season. Real shame to lose both he and Glatzel this way in preseason.

You could say the same about Ojo as neither have a chance of ever making it here. But I suppose the club are hoping the exposure I'll I crease their value.

Klopp does rate these players it's just that at the moment no room for them to get minutes.

Seems like he's just wanting these players to get game time.

It's on LFCtvgo, presumably they aren't able to show it live TV but can stream it.

Clayton has done his 2 years in the U18s and so is in the U23 age group now. Ditto Morgan Boyes who plays LB as well as CB. Remi savage plays CB for U18s
