I think the only way something is actually done is if supporters, not just Liverpool ones, of teams throughout the PL, start boycotting games, go out to protest etc. They can't ignore that.
However looking at how Spurs and West Ham fans recently embarrassed themselves I think it's blatantly obvious that will never happen. Fans are too busy laughing at Liverpool or Arsenal not winning than actually trying to do something and change the PL.
So at moment we are looking at a fine and that's it.
While I can't bear the idea, I'm basically mentally preparing myself for this too. Hoping for the best, but expecting the worst.
It's very hard to predict though, because I think one way or the other, the PL has a credibility problem. If they really go for City and strip titles, then they sort of void the past 12 years of the league title, or at least 2012-2018 if the charges only go up to 6 years ago. That would leave a weird feeling of it all having been pointless in those years.
If they do very little or nothing, then I think more fans are going to turn off than they realise. The small time midtable or relegation teams might not give a fuck, but Arsenal and Liverpool are now both fed up with this. And while United's fans have been dickheads om the subject in the past because they were desperate for us not to win, you can see they're pretty tired of it too now. The tone of Redcafe's thread on City is pretty similar to RAWK's. The average Crystal Palace fan may not give a fuck, but the PL also have to think about pure numbers and massively disappointing the three biggest fanbases in the country.
As has been discussed here, the league aren't the ones who have delayed this process, but at the same time they've allowed this to turn into a shitshow. How can you have a team going to legal war with their own league in a blatant, desperate attempt to delay and not cooperate with an investigation, and the league simply allows them to continue competing and winning every year? It's completely and utterly mental and the PL have a lot of responsibility for that. Even in cycling 20 years ago it wouldn't have been allowed to happen like this.
They have a big problem now one way or the other because they've allowed this gaping wound to fester. City getting done would probably prevent me from giving up my subscription, but it wouldn't totally restore my faith in the PL being able to govern themselves either.
