Thanks for the downloads, people......cracking goal. Can't believe the permit laws stopped Gonzalez from playing for us this year: he looks like a talent of which any league in the world would be proud of.

Well they always give at least 4 minutes extra-time when things aren't going well for United. Hence Rio's goal which wasn't even a freekick in the 94th minute.

I hate to be sceptical but are we sure that's Mark Gonzalez?

reason 1) it looks absolutely nothing like the fella that was in the pics training with us months ago

reason 2) the words "Virtudes Fernandez" don't look like they sound like Mark Gonzalez

It was 100% without doubt Mark Gonzalez who scored that thundering free-kick, the very Mark gonzalez who will be in the RED of Liverpool next season.

I have just watched the gif, and that Virtudes Fernandez must be the TV presenter. BTW, didn't he score with his right foot ? (the gif image is very small) He is left footed though.

that seriously looks absolutely nothing like the fella who was pictured training with us in the winter, he looked about 5 foot nothing and was strongly built, short of Maradona-ish in stature

I'm starting to wonder if that "Mark Gonzalez" was maybe the Costa Rican fella who came over for a trial ?

the fella who's belted that free-kick in looks quite tall and wiry, which ties in with him being rumoured to be v good in the air...

my gut feeling about this fella gets stronger the more I read/see, I'm convinced he is gonna be genuine edge-of-the-seat and is gonna kick some fucking arse in the Premiership, hopefully starting with Paulo Ferreira or Gary Inbred...

Ok, then. A Taxi driver who was at Liverpool airport last night got told by one of the cleaners that her son works with a girl who goes out with a guy who works at the Post Office in Old Swan and HE said it was Mark Gonzalez that scored the free-kick.

Now you cannot get better proof than that

Well the gif starts just as he hits it but I've watched it a few times and it's definitely the left foot following through. If you look again you can just about make out his right leg crosses his left in the foreground after he's hit it.

I saw the picture you are mentioning and the first impression I got was that he can't be Mark Gonzalez. In that picture he looked fatter and shorter, but then he was next to Crouch and the whole Liverpool team, the tallest team in a league of tall players. Definitely it wasn't Bolanos and his ridiculous hair style and head band.

Yes, he looked more Amerindian than Mark Gonzalez does, though Mark may have some Amerindian blood too. It had to be him. Who else?
