Give him a chance, he's only had one run with the ball so far, got up for a header from a corner but put it over. Valencia are starting to dominate and Sociedad aren't coping all that well, lashing long balls up front mostly.

He did have a good run at Miguel though who is quite the nippy fecker himself. I'm not sure on his fitness level but i'd guess he wouldnt be at 100% yet so, its bodes well.

Huge potential, unfortunately did not get much chance to see many deliveries into the box. But caused the right back Miguel many a problem so would be good to see him against a lesser team to see in all out attack and really see what he can produce.

Wouldn't get in the Liverpool first team at this stage (especially for fitness reasons) but a great prospect none the less.

Just posted something similar on the Kewell thread but was wondering if this slight confusion can be cleared up by someone.

Up until now it seems that the consensus is that Gonzalez is a left winger, however in Parry in an interview published on LFConline dicussing summer transfers reffers to Gonzalez as the answer to our problems on the right.

Quote
"We have been working on possible summer options for some time, not just involving one player, but two or three," said the chief exec.

"These include right-sided midfielder Mark Gonzalez who we signed in October, but have been unable to play so far because of work permit issues. We remain very excited about him and we are determined to get him back to Anfield at the first available opportunity.

http://www.lfconline.com/news/loadnews.asp?cid=TMNW&id=268088

Whats the story?

Is he two footed and can play on either wing? Is Parry talking out his arse? Or have we all been misled?

If anyone can shed some light on this conundrum, please do.

He can play where Rafa tells him to play.
"All the lads have been talking about is walking out in front of the Kop, with 40,000 singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone'," Collins told BBC Radio Solent. "All the money in the world couldn't buy that feeling," he added.

I just asked this question on the previous page. According to Spanish fan he's a left footed, left sided player. So either Parry was misquoted, he's talking through his arse or Rafa has plans to play Gonzales on the right which I doubt. I'm thinkin its the second one.

He's probably better with his left foot but so is Garcia and he can play on the right side.  McMananaman played on both flanks, Pires can, as can the "fake" Ronaldo, to name a few.

Miguel is a classy defender, quick and agile, so if Gonzalez was giving him a hard time he must have something about him

I don;t think that Gonzalez played very well against Valencia. On the issue of how fast he is. Well, on one ocassion he made a run behind Miguel, who is very fast, and he easily outsprint him. I don't know if he is as quick as Cisse, but if he is not he is very close. He surely will be one of the fastest players in the Premiership, and times his runnings better than the French. I think Benitez may use him as a LW and as a second striker, especially for away games or when defending a result. His pace would be lethal.

The fact that he hardly got a pass didnt help, otherwise in my opinion at first glance he looked very tasty and I am sure will push Harry all the way for LM!

From what i so his team mates seemed a little reluctant to pass to him, maybe becuase he is on loan or came on as a sub

He might be quicker than a quick thing on steroids, but for some reason I've got this feeling that sheer pace isn't the only quality we need.
"All the lads have been talking about is walking out in front of the Kop, with 40,000 singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone'," Collins told BBC Radio Solent. "All the money in the world couldn't buy that feeling," he added.

Can you please help ? I know this has been addressed a billion times, but I need to clear this up. Where does Mark Gonzalez play on ? the left wing ? if so, what will happen to Zenden/Kewell ? will they be competing for the same position ?. Or does he play on the right, in which case, why are we still pursuing a right winger in this summer  ??? ?.  Please clarify !!

From what i've heard the lad is a left winger, what parry may have been hinting at is that he could be a partial solution to the right mid as the more quality options we have on the left the more chance there is that we might see harry starting on the right of midfield.

Harry wouldnt be bad there as provided we have a decent deliveries from the left he wouldnt be a bad header of the ball to have coming in at back post. Plus it might make encourage him to have a crack more often than he does at the moment as when he cuts inside he would be on his favoured foot and more likely to test the keeper

Great clips thanks mate. My only concern is that the guy may want too much time on the ball, like all the other La Liga signings. But then again the guys is young and not to mention lightning-quick.

I can't believe those bureaucratic a******s wouldn't let him get a work permit. Hope he shoves a couple of goals up their arses!

Great ball in there.
