Six centre backs is not essential   :D just a big waste of squad space and resources. What's the point in buying a young one like Quansah if there are 5 more looking for minutes as well, they'd never develop and it's just hurt either one or both of them and Quansah trying to share their minutes.

Yeah, 4 robust CBs is all that is required. Obviously the robust part is what we've had an issue with in the past though.

Van Dijk, Konate, Quansah and A N Other, plus a versatile option like Gomez (providing he wants to stay) in the event of a crisis should be sufficient.
And if the rain stops, and everything's dry.. she would cry, just so I could drink tears from her eyes.

Another CB would be top of my wish list.

Someone who can come in and genuinely be considered to start alongside from Day 1. Not a youngster. Not someone to share time with Konate. But someone who is going to come in and add stability, durability and availability to the back line.

The challenge at CB is Konate being 2 years off his contract being done. Do you give him a new, improved deal at the same time as bringing in someone who you think can unsurp him in the team?
I think Jookie might just be the best fisherman on this thread.

Would have to do some serious backtracking if we went anywhere near Gordon.

Probably mine too. We've not been good enough defensively this season. That needs to change. A robust CB able to start 30 PL games alongside VVD would help. I'd love elite athleticism at 6 too but only if comes with high level on the ball ability too and I'm not sure that particular unicorn will be available this summer.

His theatrics don't sit well with me and if he was such a died-in-the-wool red it would have been nice to see more professional behaviour from him when facing us.
I can't see this going down well on the other side of Stanley Park. Given the hassle the likes of Fowler suffered at the hands of their nutter element whilst out and about in town, it would probably be safer for the lad to stay well away from us.

Araujo from Barcelona would be great.

1st choice CB

Big, athletic no.6

Back up left back

That’s what I’d like this summer. Currently anyway. I don’t think we need to add numbers so the above 3 would come with 3 sales from the current 21-22 man squad - so not including loans or Thiago/Matip.

If Trent goes into midfield, I’d look to sell Tsimikas and at least 1 of current midfielders. I’d think of Gomez as back up right back and depth at LB and CB. I’d view Szoboszlai and Elliott as more forward rather than midfield options if we move towards 4-2-3-1.

I don’t think we’ll do all of the above. Think we may try and reshape forward line. I do think we’ll see at least 1 of the current midfielders leave the club. That’s in addition to Thiago.
I think Jookie might just be the best fisherman on this thread.

Van den Berg has already said he plans to leave permanently this summer.
Has he? I thought he said he knew he might have to leave to establish himself.

We've had traditional number nine's and a false nine so I'd definitely be up for a deep space nine.

Van de Berg just doesn’t seem to be rated. Could be wrong, but he seems more the Harry Wilson vibe. Could be for all sorts of reasons, but does seem like he will a sellable asset for us in the summer. Matip leaving is absolutely the right decision too- time for us to move on.

Think there will be some difficult decisions this summer

Some horrible finishing in that video. The same clip with a decent centre forward would have twice as many goals. Neat little player, but is he not just another Harvey ?

Yes and he'd be better served staying at Leeds for another year at least. He is 18, and certainly looks it!

Yeah, he looks stocky and bounces off some challenges in that vid. I'm thinking of him as one of those who wouldn't cost a fortune and could suit up for our second club for a year or two as Mo sticks around.

what are your thoughts on Benjamin Sesko as a CF option?

Watched both legs Leipzig played against Madrid, he didn’t convince me but he’s young and learning his trade on that level. Big potential but needs a couple more years in Germany to be honest. Been more impressed with Hojlund at United and he wouldn’t get on our bench.

Don't know a lot about him but seems strange unless it's for financial reasons, seems he is quite highly rated from Brazil and scored a couple of goals for them when he first arrived.

When I look at the starting lineup versus Villa the one thing stands out, the lack of athleticism raw pace in midfield and the forwards. That's what I want concentrated now this summer transfer window

I do love these chats
basically, despise hating every moment of being there, Barca are so broke that they can’t afford to pay another manager out of their contract so they guilt tripped Xavi into staying.
