City away at Atleti while we’re at home to Benfica 4 days before the Etihad is great.
Think it is the other way round.

They set up similarly to teams that City have dropped points to this season. Plus their level of snide will crack their melons.
If city think that Atletico Madrid will be easy then they’re deluded, nightmare fixture

A city v Chelsea semi on the cards. No fans will make the tie a bit surreal, no atmosphere and a massive embarrassment for Uefa’s flagship competition, the game at Stamford bridge won’t be much better either.

I just asked what day we're playing. Is it Tuesday or Wednesday?

Good draw for us as I said.
I know you said it was a good draw, but your post focused on the Weds not the either or. Anyway, I was only messing, like you I'm pleased with the draw.

City v Atletico is a first time ever tie in Europe - Simeone will know how to rattle the shit out of them.

Chelsea v Real Madrid is no easy tie. I'd expect Real to advance here

Bayern should beat Villareal.

Bayern will fear us thats for sure.

Nice enough draw!

And being as Abu Dhabi and Chelsea got the 2 easy draws last round while we got the tough one, then all good!

Great draw for once. Probably asking too much for the other two English sides to be knocked out but we can dream. A fairly straightforward tie in the quarters followed by a clash with European royalty in the semis.

You haven’t had a decent run in Europe until you’re playing when it’s still light out. Those games just feel different.

And more importantly this tie can affect their league games. Atletico is a physical side and City will have to exert a lot more energy to deal with them on Wednesday and then play a Saturday game.

Could be similar to 81, we had Bayern in the semi then, the second leg was in Munich, followed by Real in the final which was in Paris.  ;D

The City game won't get moved, if you mean our League game against us, I imagine us and City will play on the same match day otherwise one of us is playing Wednesday - Sunday - Tuesday if they rotate the fixtures between different weeknights

I expect City will advance comfortably enough to be honest. The main benefit from our perspective is that Atletico might force them to work a bit at least but the oil cheats will probably win by a few goals over the two legs.

City play Burnley at 3pm the Saturday before the 1st leg, we play Watford.  You would, therefore, expect the CL games to be first leg Tuesday, second leg Wednesday allowing the City game to be played on Sunday.  I've not looked at the other fixtures involving Madrid, Bayern etc to see where they are playing the weekend before though...

All we need is long grass, heavy rain and a gale force wind at Turf Moor, followed by dealing with Simeone's antics, followed by clashing with Kloppo's boys, followed by more shithousing. That scenario leads to Shoestring Pep and Simeone having a fist fight on the touchline by the end of the second leg.

Couldn’t have gone any better.

I’m not arsed about the fact we’re probably going to have to beat Bayern to get to the final, at the end of the day if we get through to the semi-final then by that point you have to expect to be playing the best, but we’ll have managed to avoid it until the 2nd to last round which is as good as you can ask for.

Obviously there’s the potential for an all English final looming against 2 sides who you’d desperately want to avoid playing one against, but there is at least a fairly reasonably chance that either Atletico or Real knock them out which is about as good as you could ask for and, for me, preferable to having to put up with 2 legs against them.

Great draw and one to look forward to against Benfica.

Personally think that City won't be able to cope mentally with the premier league run in and a quarter final of that magnitude. They've usually got the league pretty much sewn up by now and it takes the pressure off. Will be interesting to see how they cope with watching over their shoulders with us (and they're already showing signs of cracking) and then focusing on a very difficult game against Atletico who are more than capable of winning.

:lmao people need to be a bit more realistic. They’ve done it at the top level for several years they’ll be fine mentally but with no strikers they’ll find it tough vs Atleticos packed defence.
