Good stepping stone signings for Newcastle.  Neither is quite good enough - or reliably fit enough in Kelly's case - to move to a current top four team but are significant improvements on most of what Newcastle already have (Lascelles, Schar, Burn, Dummett!).  Livramento, Botman, Tosin and Kelly is a good back four.

Are Newcastle still bleating about PSR impeding them or have they just magicked up another self-sponsorship deal?
Schar is quite a player, with enough international experience too!

Funny how many scouts Bayern seem to have in the Premier League these days, and their manager recruitment team seem to have extreme ADHD, or just a very hard time finding someone they haven't hired before! :)

With Palace likely losing Olise, Eze and Guehi this summer can’t see them letting him go this summer.

Palace can potentially raise £200m this summer and reconstruct a fantastic team that qualifies for Europe in 2025, in my opinion.

I don't see the logic here.  So Palace can sell their best players, end up with £200m, not be able to really sign replacements of that standard because they'll finish bottom half and, well, they're Palace and there going to qualify for Europe within 18 months ?

They have a good manager, but he's not a miracle worker.

What you want is to keep them and add additional quality in the squad to qualify for Europe. Not sell all your best players and hope you can attract similar talents for the same funds. Moving from bottom to top then you need either money, or buying smart/developing talent and keeping them long enough.

Can see Olise leave Palace and maybe Eze as well. But that will be it. They'll still raise £120m+ from both.
Thank Fowler we're not getting Caulker

Villa aiming to sign Ross Barkley from Luton

Interesting. Seems similar to Tielemans these days, but I guess they’ll need more depth next year.

Wolves want £60m for Neto according to the Telegraph. Man City and Newcastle are said to be interested
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2024/05/20/wolves-pedro-neto-transfer-60m-man-city-newcastle/

Chelsea willing to sell Trevor Chalobah for £25m. Matt Law also notes Chelsea are willing to listen to bids for Broja and Gallagher. Maatsen likely to leave.
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2024/05/20/chelsea-to-stick-to-25m-asking-price-for-trevor-chalobah/

Villa open to selling Diego Carlos. There is interest in Jacob Ramsey, but he doesn't want to leave. Villa only likely to sell Ramsey if they fail to sell other players.

Would hate to see Neto at City but for that fee, can see them as only suitors with his injury record unfortunately.

Yeah, he's ideal for them - they can make the most of his quality for the games he's actually fit for, and then just have one of their other £50-100m wingers step in for the half season that he's injured.

No jeopardy from injuries, no drop-off since their squad players are happy getting under-the-table second salaries/ambassador deals plus guaranteed trophies. And another season of the media and pundits asking "how does Guardiola manage to make Man City so successful?" in admiring bewilderment.

Yeah if you could just scout and recommend

A replacement for Eze
A replacement for Olise
A replacement for Guehi
A really good leftwing back
A backup for Mateta

Total budget: 2/3 of eze+olise+guehi

and send c/o Dougie Freedman, Selhurst Park, SE25 6PU

that would be just super

A replacement for Olise - Anthony
A replacement for Guehi - Maguire
A really good leftwing back - Malacia
A backup for Mateta - Shipperley (although he might take up the whole bench these days).

According to Sky Germany, Dortmund have offered €25m for Maatsen which is below the €35m purchase option. Dortmund seem to be leaning on Maatsen wanting to stay in Dortmund plus Chelsea's needing to sell players to try to obtain him for a lower fee.

Chelsea are completely bonkers.  Paying over the odds for players aged 18-24 so they can talent pool that generation and then being forced to sell their best left-back - aged 22 - below market value.

Signing Cucarella for £60m and selling Maatsen for £20m would be one of Boehly's worst bits of business and that's a hotly competed area.

No way they say yes to that. They got £35 million for a left back who'd played eight first-team games last year. Why would they take less for a left back who's about to start a Champions League final? They're probably relieved Dortmund are lowballing them so they have the chance to walk away.

Looks to be getting as injury prone as Alisson. Interesting to see who they bring in, possibly a record fee incoming but not sure who. England's number one is a really good goalkeeper, should have a look at him.

They’ll probably go Costa from Porto, looks good and one of few keepers around that seems able to make jump to top class.

So they might need to seek Isak or Gordon for ffp and then they gonna buy those two? Kinda same money and not sure that trade makes any sense if so.

Personally I think we should be in for Maatsen.

City moving Ederson on is interesting but is the ruthless right call. Haven’t seen much of Costa from Porto but don’t want my judgement to be clouded by the two utterly horrific performances he’s put in against us in the Champions League.

Could do you see City surprise a few and go and get the likes of a Sa from Wolves or a BIG bid for Martinez at Villa. Not sure whether Ortega might just be kept in there.

City is being smart moving on Ederson at this time. It’s with this type of transfer planning combined with excellent cheating that makes them a formidable opponent. Imagine having unlimited funds and no scruples. That’s what separates them from the rest.

Ederson is one of the under-rated Man City players, possibly because he is not Brazil's starting goalkeeper. He will not be easy to replace at the same level, even with their financial cheating. They will probably go after Diogo Costa, even though I can also see them going after someone like Lucas Chevalier, with Stefan Ortega staying ...

I think he's a bit annoying but understood it at the time. Coming off injured at a time in the season when every game is like a final and you could help your side win silverware, i'd have been pretty pissed off too.

I understand it a lot more than Bentancur for example playing shite then kicking the clubs chairs like there was much on the line for a notoriously successful side... Tottenham

I wasn’t serious. Ederson might be off it or still great, just laughing a bit with how ‘good city are’ with their trqnafer strategies. It ain’t that difficult when you chest your way to success is it.
