Nunez, Sesko, Arnautovic, Kalajdzic - All signs point to them wanting for a battering ram tall striker upfront, which, given their only other proper no.9 is Ronaldo seems to be on the lines of lump it to the lad up top, Hodgson style, which, if Ten Haag thinks will have the same output as Haller at Ajax, he may be in for a big surprise.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Everton go for Kalajzdic, he's about 6 foot 7, would suit them at the minute.

Interesting that Brighton are willing to sell. His numbers don’t jump off the page but he’s a decent player who enables their better midfielders to get forward. It says that they’re a) Trusting Welbeck’s fitness more b) rating the new teenager they’ve signed or most likely c) happy to go quite big for Ivan Toney.

Might have a minor domino effect, that one. Striker is one position they’ve struggled to get right Brighton, but if they can get a high shot volume, high chance converting striker they may start to look a shout for top 6.

It only makes sense if they’ve got someone lined up. From memory last season they needed a consistent goal scorer.

Have they been linked with a Cucurella replacement yet?

A few Swansea supporters I know have been convinced for weeks that Brighton will make an offer for Joel Piroe if they do sell Maupay. He’s done really well in the Championship, not sure how he’d handle the step up if he does get an offer from a PL club but I liked what I saw of him last season.

Currently got 27 first team players in their squad, that’s not counting these two they’re close to and Gibbs-White, who the rumours don’t seem to be dying down on.

Absolutely ridiculous strategy.

We’re gonna be so far behind Forest in the net spend league :(
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Scored the own goal at Anfield him I believe. Looked okay though.

If Cooper can get the best of these new players they can definitely stay up. Can't see them doing quite as well as Brentford did last season (bar quite a bad spell in the middle) but with all these players coming in I'm not expecting a relegation. Just need Forest and Bournemouth to get a few in now, because I can't see the likes of Leeds struggling as much this season, and I'd tip Brentford to stay up if they can perform like they did yesterday often enough

Aouar to Forest is bizarre. There’s been a lot of talk about Betis coming in for him but they’re struggling with FFP.

Aouar’s numbers have regressed but he’s still way above that level. You’d think he’d have some form of contractual protection that lets him leave after a year regardless of how Forest have done. Forest have shown they’re willing to think short term with the Lingard deal just to get higher profile players in through the door.

I just find it odd that for the mooted fee Lyon wouldn’t just keep hold of him, or someone in Serie A or the Bundesliga isn’t taking a punt on him as a bargain.

It’s really odd, based on his obvious talent and underlying numbers, that no one has taken a punt on him in last 2-3 years.

Must be something behind the scenes with him or his agent putting teams off.

I did a bit of a deep dive to see what the prevalent views of Lyon fans were, as well as anything I could see on his agent and representation to give some idea as to how this could happen. Lyon fans rate him, think his career has stalled and a move at a good price would be welcome for both parties, from the poor translation tool I used.

And his agent seems fairly reputable (as much as agents can be), in that he also represents our own Konate, as well as Camavinga, Saul and Doku. The agency as a whole also is huge, representing Grealish, Phillips, Chilwell, Shaw, Tierney etc. They don’t seem a set up that would allow rogue agents like we’ve seen with Fekir in the past.

Honestly thought when Aouar and Lyon dumped City out of the CL a couple of years ago that he’d be at a Juve, City, Milan etc level team at this stage. Not close to moving to the most oddly and hastily constructed Premier League side there may ever have been.

Fair enough. It’s all very odd then, maybe he was priced out of a big move when covid happened and his form since, which at best has stalled, has lead clubs to look elsewhere.

Still think there is a hell of a player in there.
