Is this the most amicable deal in history? Salzburg seem genuinely excited to be selling him to us. It's understandable as it's likely the model they've been aiming to follow from the outset and the interest a lot of their players are receiving vindicates their work over the years, but still it's a bit surprising.

Also is the Salzburg right back highly rated? He seemed stupidly quick and very strong when dealing with Mane in the last game, if a little petulant.

Their fans are similar really, the general sense you got from their comments yesterday was they felt pride that Minamino was going to the European Champions, no bitterness, just understanding he was taking that next step.

And it's how the club operates. They already have Minamino's replacment in their club in Seko Koita, in the same way they had Dabbur's replacment last season already there, in Haaland.

Watching the game back and some of our football under pressure was excellent. We are blessed with this team. In terms of how good they are and the character they show game in game out.

Only if Van Dijk plays alongside.

Once the injured lads are back in January, there are going to be some big names not even making the bench.  For example,

Starting Lineup
Allison
Trent-Matip-VVD-Robertson
AOC-Fabinho-Keita
Mane-Salah-Firmino

Bench
Adrian
Gomez
Minimino
Henderson
Milner
Gini
Origi

Exercise Bike
Shaqiri
Lovren
Lallana

That's assuming no one else come in this January which is the most likely scenario.  If we do sign someone, I suspect it may be for next year.

Matip might be back in January, or he might be back in April. It's completely unknown as of now. Fabinho might miss most of January as well. So we need to utilize all of the squad depth we have.

I totally see the sense in their attitude here. By sacrificing a bit of strength this season in letting him go, they are pretty much guaranteed the pick of the best of the new generation coming through, as they could say "see, look at Minamino", except before they have the chance to say that, they'll be having the agents of that talent on the phone to them anyway. Their model and success rate is reinforced massively by him coming here.

Its a sign of how highly we are now regarded in the world. Of late only Barca and Real commanded this respect. In older days, it was Milan and Juventus too. It just shows how far we've come. We dont expect anyone to jump ship because there is nowhere better than Liverpool right now to play football and challenge for trophies.
