Where's Linudden? Is he going to try to defend Vettel after that  ;D

I’m pretty sure that Linudden in his defence like a lot of Ferrari fans I suspect (including myself) don’t actually rate Vettel that highly.

Cheers. Makes sense [I'm not British so I'm not aware of anything of the sort, was just going on based on what people think on here]

I can’t stand Hamilton, but what Ferdinand says is hard to argue with, although the racism seems strangely selective. It’s nothing new though, John Barnes went through a similar thing when he played for England, people questioning his commitment and why he couldn’t play as well for them as he did for us (compare that to the lack of criticism for Paul Scholes who quite playing for England in his 20’s without too much fuss or criticism). But at the same time, some black sportsman like say Linford Christie (who was also born in Jamaica) never had his commitment questioned, Rio Ferdinand himself and more recently the country has generally taken Mo Farah to its heart despite the fact he was born in Somalia and is Muslim at a time when Islamaphobia has been on the rise.

But things like racism are by their nature quite irrational so trying to rationalise and understand this might just not be possible.

Ferdinand is a tit.  Just using social media as platform to go on one of his rants, he doesnt give a shit about patriotism he only see's skin colour as we know with the whole choc ice Ashley Cole thing. Always comes back to race with that dickhead.

Nobody dislikes Hamilton because of his patriotism lol

Or the way he talks or dresses. I hate people who try and turn everything into a race issue when it isn't. They're part of the problem.

Questioning his "Britishness" is largely down to what he looks like..and then there are always the arseholes who complain about him looking "hip-hop". Which isnt hard to decipher the true meaning.

Completely off topic but you only have to look at the state of the government and who is going to lead the country soon to see where that comes from.
This doesnt condemn everyone but I think most people would be surprised to know how prevalent it is

Brilliant win again from Lewis, a true great, a true champ, a true Brit and a true legend. To achieve what he has over the years puts him in the very top echelon of British sporting legends. Lewis, I salute you, sir.

I actually don’t think Ferdinand is wrong, however racism is probably only explains why only a fraction of the people who dislike him do so. There are likely a multitude of other reasons - his tax status, his flashiness, jealousy, the team you support, etc.

Personally I’ve always thought he comes across as a decent guy. Occasional bouts of twattyness, but then he’s grown up from a young lad in the spot light - of course their will be.

The funny thing is, whenever I talk to my friends about Hamilton, they say "I dont know why I hate him. I just hate him". I dont know if they are really unable to or dont want to articulate it into words.

I used to hate him because of my allegiance to Ferrari. But that was all before 2015. I dont think I can say I hate him.

I used to really dislike Hamilton. Purely because I've always been a Ferrari fan and it felt like everything was handed to him at McLaren (didn't help that I was desperate for Massa to win the title) but the man is incredible. From the driving side alone, fair enough he had the sponsorships (as most new drivers do now anyway) but the way he has used that talent to turn himself into one of the most successful drivers in history is immense. Seems a pretty decent bloke, wants to live his life his way and have fun. The man is living the dream and enjoying himself now rather than looking back in 20 years thinking he should've enjoyed it more. Fair play

Spot on. Many who dislike him will do so because of his race or at least linked to it, whilst many others who dislike him will have other reasons and won't have a racist bone in their bodies.

I personally support him and respect him for what he has achieved. The only thing that grates on me is that I think he tries to hard to come across as a nice guy. Some of his interviews can just be a massive cheese fest.

Loads of people dislike Hamilton but its important to put it into context. I dislike him in the context of f1 drivers past and present, hes not a horrible human being or anything. Firstly his moaning is pretty irritating on the radio, considering all drivers go through similar stuff. He accused his own team of deliberate sabotage when he raced Rosberg, that's just ridiculous. He was shit out of luck it was nothing to do with intentional failures. And yeah as a ferrari fan I cant exactly cheer for a guy that raced against Alonso, Vettel etc, that'd just be weird.

My issue with Rio Ferdinand is he thinks its completely black and white, like there are no reasons other then someone's skin colour, nationality, class etc to dislike someone else, he thinks personality and rivalry dont come into it when usually they are the main reasons why you either like someone and don't. Oh but racists dont like Lewis because hes black, well obviously dickhead thats why they are racists.

Hamilton’s biggest issue is that he’s a serial winner, nothing this country hates more than a successful sportsman.

if he had a bad couple of years and then suddenly came back in the limelight he would be more popular (ala Steve Davis)

I hated Stephen Hendry for instance, when he retired i was sad. I just thought "why didnt i just appreciate what i saw"

Schumacher winning every year got boring, again just enjoy while you can.

I think Tiger woods might be another, everyone got bored of him winning but after many years, his masters win in April was very popular

so i guess my point is people should appreciate Hamilton while they can.

I don't like the way he dresses sometimes. I sometimes don't like the way even our players dress. makes them look like tools. People like Andrew Benson are another reason I dislike Hamilton. he could be writing about literally any subject, the destruction of the Amazon rainforest, and he'd still find a way to shoehorn in how great Hamilton is. he should change his title from 'Chief F1 writer' to 'Chief Hamilton fanboy'.

Don't get me started on Benson.  Aside from any bias towards Lewis he's just an awful "expert" in general.  I think that Rosberg is actually a bigger cheerleader for Lewis than Benson these days.  I think that "hate"gets thrown around a bit much (not talking about this thread necessarily).  I don't like certain aspects of Lewis persona, but I don't hate him and I doubt that anyone else on here does either.

Holy fuck that's quick!

The talk in the paddock is that the fastest time possible is 1.7-1.8 seconds for a 4 tyre change pitstop based on internal practices back at the factory.

Williams whilst having the slowest car on the track, have some of the most consistently fast pitstops out of anyone in the pits. Routinely in the low 2 second range.

Nail On Head.

I don't mind the fella at all, come across way bigger twats in my life than someone who enjoys what he has worked for. He's worked hard for what he has and is dominating his sport, which I love to see. It was a lovely thing he did too for that 5 yr old Harry Shaw before he died, dedicating the win in Spain to him and Mercedes sending the gloves, trophy and a replica car to his house.

If I had his job and money I'd live abroad too. There are probably practicalities, outside of the financial side, to living there too, with the amount of travelling involved in F1. I also wouldn't be seen dead in the UK in the winter if I was loaded. I'd be pissed if I was paying millions in tax too and watching those c*nts in Government piss it up the wall on shite like Brexit.

I'd be pissed if I was paying millions in tax too and watching those c*nts in Government piss it up the wall on shite like Brexit.

His father's story and what he did for him [Lewis] in order to put him into position to race one day is fantastic, and with his disabled brother as well.

Not only did Hamilton get fastest lap on 32 lap old hard tyres no one pointing out how Bottas was dropping behind him even though on the medium tyres after the safety car.

Ocon will be taking Bottas' seat next season.

I'm starting to see why Rosberg had to get dirty with Hamilton only way he could beat him. Maybe in 2016 when Hamilton had 7 failures across the race and qualifying it was all Rosberg  tampering with his car during the night :-X :-X

Especially when you consider he's not even the fastest driver on the track.......
