When he's playing high up the pitch he's still got it, you still see him nicking in to win balls, press high and sweep the way he used to, and he's been a decent part of helping us keep teams penned in in some games this season.
But then the second he's running back towards his own goal, tasked with tracking runners, or has players running at him, he's no-where near it defensively. That piece of play before West Ham's goal has been seen from him constantly all season - a slow, half-hearted attempt to engage that is ultimately easily passed around (Henderson is also shocking on the goal tbf, it's a bad combo).
I dunno, it's clearly going to be a bigger issue in some games than others, and it probably does become less of one if and when we press teams better, but it feels like a fairly fundamental compromise for a defensive midfielder.
