Yes, I would agree with that. You would think that Klopp would give all the players challenges season to season and that's where I would like to see Robbo improve further. He should be well capable of that.

An increase of 20% on his previous career high

During this time he covered more high speed metres than any footballer in the world

How much of a break is too long for him at this point? Take off until 2022? I'm joking but do think that if he looks physically done for at 28 then we'll know why.

We really need to use Tsimikas more next season. Or we could just run Robertson into the ground and then sign a new left back when he is done.

Maybe he won't be run into the ground, maybe he's a player who can fairly easily withstand the demands put on him. Some players just naturally seem able to play and play and play without it affecting them deleteriously.

I know no-one seems to want to consider this but the club and its sports scientists do keep an eye on these things.

Is that something sports science can predict that high amount of minutes wont affect him in the long run?

I guess you could pull him out if things start to degrade or some stats fall, but is it not too late by then?

Hopefully Scotland miss out on the World Cup (Qatar World Cup tainted anyway) and he gets a mid-season break in 22/23. It's not cool the way top players are being run into the ground these days. Players with good injury records just play constantly.

It's helped that this is the first summer he's had to play in a tournament. Other players (Brazil etc) have to play tournaments every summer. This is Ronaldo's 5th Euros and he'll play in his 5th World Cup next year.

The club and it's sports scientists can predict the future with perfect accuracy? Wow, when did this happen?

In actuality they're making the best guess they can and since Robbo has never done this before there is nothing to hang your hat on as far as how his body will respond long term. There's also the small issue of a once in a 100 year virus with still unknown long term effects.

Watching Luke Shaw last night highlighted to me how good Robertson really is. Shaw receives a pass, turns back to his own goal, then plays the ball backwards. Repeat. He must have played less than 5 forward passes. Robertson is up and down the touch line the whole game and wants to move the ball forward. I haven’t watched enough other teams last season to appreciate how good he is.

The praise he was getting was ridiculous, you could almost think you were watching a combination of Fachetti, Breitner and our own Crazy Horse. He is a competent full back but nowhere near Robbo.

I couldn’t understand that either. Loads of BBC pundits saying Shaw had a great game. He was solid and predictable but he didn’t DO anything other than hold possession.

Comparisons between the two are pointless because robbo is boss beyond words, but shaw has been part of a defence not to concede in 10 hours and he's got an assist two games in a row. Pretty random discussion really

Robbo is still arguably the best left back in Europe but don’t see why you’ve used it as a stick to beat Shaw with. He’s come on a lot in the past few seasons to be honest and has looked solid

It's the only thing I'd be critical of Robbo on. He tends to keep the head down and drive through the ball when in front of goal, almost panicking, without taking a split second to choose a spot. Given his incredible accuracy at crossing, I know he has it in him though.

Could just be one of those that's initially painful that you don't feel the next morning.

Worst case scenario based just at looking at the replay is a grade 2 sprain which would be 4-6 weeks.

Have you actually watched any pre-season he’s been one of our best players if he has to play we

Not like we're relying on a kid is it? Or having to push Milner back there again.

How many clubs have better back up left back options than Tsimikas anyway? The best left backs are going to demand to play every week.
