I originally posted this on Reddit but I'll paste here I'm 15 hours or so in and honestly was concerned early on, the transition from Battlefield 4 is incredibly jarring compared to the BF3 > 4 one. I honestly think that's why many have thrown their dummies out the pram (I'm looking at you Official Battlefield Forums).
But the more I play it the more it's starting to feel like it's own game, distinct from both modern Battlefield and Battlefront. The gun-play is amazing, weapons feel distinct, weighty and satisfying to use. I found this refreshing since spending most of the last year playing CSGO after burning out on BF4.
The map is decent enough now people have gotten used to the 'meta', huge infantry battles between points are a frequent occurrence, huge deadlocks you rarely got on BF4 - very WW1 either by chance or design.
I thought tanks were OP, they still are on Rush to a degree but on Conquest with the bomber plane they're no problem, but you need co-ordination with your other gunners... it's not about soloing, it shouldn't be. Mostly everything in this game has a counter, there's always a solution.
A quick shoutout to the planes while I'm at it, amazing aerial combat that is utterly exhilarating and immersive. My 'most used' vehicle in BF4 was a tank, 80 kills in 700 hours - I hated vehicles. I'm already on 68 after 15 hours here, lovely.
I echo a lot of the complaints, i.e.:
- The old conquest mode HAS to return, you can see combacks happening but they don't due to the ticket system or round timer - no fun.
- Medic notification icons need some work, but it's NO WHERE NEAR as bad as people are moaning about. My squad stays revived most of the time.
- UI buggy and slow on a beasty PC
I'm hoping these get ironed out, looking forward to the full release.
