Stevie would be distraught you'd have to think. To bottle it in the way they did in these circumstances.

They did better than expected, but shouldn't be conceding 3 goals in 5 minutes. Gerrard is as much to blame tactically for that capitulation

Would rather they'd just lost 3-0 to be honest. Did all the hard work then collapsed.

The keeper looked dreadful on all three goals too, so well in Martinez.
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Their lack of fight towards the end was absolutely pathetic.

It's easy in all the hysteria to forget it was a nothing game for them, Wolves similarly didn't show much after we finally got ahead.

A below average team lost a game, that's all there is to it really.

They are professional footballers, they were letting City take the ball with barely any resistance. It was absolutely pathetic.

Took 5 minutes for another team to score 3 goals. Shit players, but tactically that’s extremely poor.

I didn't watch the game, but it seems that they collapsed after Stevie has taken Coutinho off, and Ings wasn't introduced until they conceded 3 goals. It shows that Stevie is just another English manager, suited for mid-table clubs, but that's it ...

He should find a way to motivate players even when there's nothing to play for. That's what makes great managers. Unfortunately i don't see Gerrard becoming one.

Are you serious? They were 2-0 up. Fucking annoyed at their capitulation but absolutely bizarre to look at that result and go ‘oh that shows Stevie hasn’t got what it takes’

I can get letting in 2 goals, quick one after the other.
But to concede 3 goals in 5 minutes is beyond pathetic.
All they had to do was old fashioned time wasting tactics to slow the momentum.
Quite deflated by this. Had no hope of getting anything from Villa but to get so close is gutting.

The most frustrating thing was that they looked REALLY comfortable at 2-0 up.

It wasn't as City were missing sitter after sitter or Olsen was having a worldie...

they just mentally capitulated after City's first goal....

Surprised Ings didn't come in for Watkins earlier though, Watkins alone could have had a hattrick but fluffed his lines every time.

It is pathetic but we know from experience far better teams than Villa can concede 3 in 5 minutes under pressure.

They’d almost be getting less stick if they’d lost 4-0. Hugely annoying but again, they did more than I think any of us expected.

Very naive game management by Gerrard you have to say,  bolster your defence with one of your subs if you're 2 nil up, he brought Ashley Young on when they were 3-2 down ffs

Yeah I'm not getting the Villa hate, City are a very good team and could do that to 90% of this league. I think it's just the disappointment about losing the league but realistically did anyone think Villa could take a point let alone 3?
I’ve plenty links to the clubs playing and backroom staff as many on here know thank you very much. Fair enough, I admire your optimism. But you’re absolute ostriches if you think this squad, even with 2 or 3 new, “cut price” players with potential get us anywhere close

It is would have been the perfect time to conjure  some dark arts, throw a defender or two on, a DM slow the game down, maybe he just lacks experience but it’s a poor showing given the circumstances.

I think that people are pissed off more by the fact that Stevie has proven to be a pretty naive manager at this level. We will always love him for what he has given us as a player, but it seems that was a pathetic implosion by his team today, and he didn't do anything to stop it. In fact, taking off the only player who has the experience at the very top level has very likely contributed to the implosion ...
