They changed the rule after that year, then after they decided the Europa League winner would get a Champions League place they changed it again to its current form.
We been out it so long not been keeping up, thanks for the corrections.

I'm sure that they would happily make exception to the rule if there was a good reason why one stadium was unavailable.

I really hope not as it would be funny to see them forced to leave the new stadium mothballed for most of a season  ;D

Some info here on the severity of Alderweireld's injury. Also says he's damaged a different part of the same hamstring. Anybody willing to give this guy 150k a week plus is gambling, plain and simple. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/feb/27/tottenham-toby-alderweireld-juventus-mauricio-pochettino

Plenty would take the risk, no doubt with certain performance clauses included, if the fee was reduced due to the buyout clause. Not like he'd be the first to go for decent money/wages after a length layoff - we've just spent £75m and close to £200k a week on one such player.

Alderweireld's injury is far more concerning than Van Dijk's. A very serious hamstring injury can absolutely finish a player, especially when they're nearly 29 already.

I've torn my hamstring. It's a bad injury which I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy, but you're being over-dramatic. The resources these players have available to them in their recovery means the vast majority of them will be fine when it comes to muscular injuries. The biggest hurdle is in the head and these are pro athletes who are used to overcoming such difficulties.

We're talking about a centre-half here who doesn't rely on his speed as well, not a striker.

Hope their game tonight doesn't get called off due to "health and safety" concerns over their players not being able to stay on their feet on the way into the ground.

Going to ask for the first few games to be away so they can complete the stadium on time, but all the teams have to agree to it. Premier League rules dictate that you can't play in more than 1 home stadium per season, can you imagine the jokes if one team says no and the stadium has to remain unused for a year because of it?
Not unusual, happened for our main stand when we had Arsenal, Burnley and Spurs away at the start of 2016/17 season

So torn...want Rochdale to beat them but also want Spurs to have something to focus on other than top 4. Good chance they'll get dumped out of the CL next week and Chelsea the week after, so would be good if at least one of them had a distraction from the league.

If they had disallowed the goal you would have expected VAR to overturn it but not the other way round!

Falling all over the pitch, a bit like Delle Alli.
