Will see how he is tomorrow, but wasn't training with full group today. I reckon he will miss the game

Sturridge unlikely to be involved in both legs of the league cup

Looking at West Ham on the 31st now, or at Everton in February.

"Liverpool face Chelsea in the Capital One Cup semi-final first leg next Tuesday, with the second leg against Sturridge’s former club on 27 January, but the striker is unlikely to be involved."

The Ibe recall may be as a way to rest Sterling and ease in Sturridge and not lose any pace and penetration.

Not really crazy to think one of the most reliable Liverpool journos could ask somebody at the club when the internal timescale is

I don't really class him as being reliable myself. In my opinion he's just guessed. He might be right, he might be wrong, but that's all he's done.

There are other reliable journos who are saying the same though mate.

Personally, I don't think we'll see him until Everton in February. Just my opinion though.

It'll probably take Sturridge a couple of weeks to get up to speed in all fairness so beginning of February probably isn't far off. Get him right and let him loose.

A few of the lads in the prediction competition over in the bets thread have picked Johnson to play as part of a back 3 on Saturday.

I've not even heard he is back in training yet to be honest.

I'm sure he was in training before the Villa game, there's a few pictures knocking about

Anyone have a solid update on Sturridge? Would love to see him get 20-30 mins against Bolton and a start against Chelsea...

EDIT: read up a bit further, doesn't seem like we'll see him til February, unless someone knows something new

Think the return leg at Chelsea might be a bit too early for him. But I'm hopeful of seeing him on the bench against West Ham in the next league game. What a lift that would be for the fans!!

On the bench for Chelsea would be nice, for me. I'd like him to have a decent run out against West Ham. I have a feeling we might need him.

Would love to see him on the bench at the Bridge. If it stays 0-0 until extra time and he comes on for the last 20 minutes or so and knocks 'em out. He has a knack for scoring when a) he's just returned from injury and b) in big games.

Really miss that wiggly arms thing.

yesil? He's back a few months now playing for the youths. It's gonna be hard for him to get back to where he was before the two acl injuries but he has got youth on his side and with loads of hard work he should be ok.

we've not missed Allen, if anything he will disrupt the team at the moment as the midfield has stabilised itself with consistant starts instead of tinkering formations
