Look no further than Masch for MOTM - he was simply world class today, box to box, belting mancs everywhere and never saying die.

I love that ugly little argy!

He had a point to prove.

He hates Man U.

some points from today:

1. delighted with a win, obviously. well in the lads for the performance and belief.

2. props to Rafa for the team he set up, and introducing the subs

3. "liverpool look average without Gerrard and Torres". am waiting for someone to use that now

4. the irony of Ferguson complaining about the ref is hilarious.

5. GET THE FUCK IN!!!
We have to change from doubter to believer. Now.

Hard to pick a man of the match. Which is an excellent fucking thing to be able to say. Id go for:

1. Masch
2. Carra
3. Xabi

Not once during the game. That was what the protest was for. Once we are inside, you support the team. Atmosphere was very good, best league atmosphere in about 4 years.

This game proves that we need width to play good. Impossible if two of our wingers never play by the line. Riera has a good footwork and he can win freekick. Benayoun did quite well and he can win freekick too.

Yes! I couldn't bear to post in here til this was done. Aside for the first 10 minutes, Liverpool dominated every aspect of that match. They won the ball, they won the scraps, they won everything. They deserved that three points. They deserved the win.

--Riera was fantastic in his debut. Looked like he couldn't find his footing at all in the first 10 minutes, just like Liverpool. But then he just started flying.

--Xabi was everywhere for much of that match. Brilliant control of the middle of the pitch. I can't tell if Masch and Xabi were THAT good or whether ManU's strange shape gave them the room to operate. Either way, Xabi was just unbelievable.

--For a while it seemed like this wasn't Liverpool but some sort of fictional Mersey Town FC in an FA Cup battle with the Prem champs. With Gerrard and Torres out, this side was scrappier and grittier and more reliant on doggedness than talent. Kuyt and Keane were all over the place, and they both also linked up with Yossi very well. Dirk Kuyt has been immense this term already, and I think almost everybody owes this guy an apology. He may not play pretty football, and he may not be pretty himself, but he's everywhere.

--It's better to be lucky than good. I've heard that my whole life. Today's first half and the VdS fuckup underscored that point tremendously. That changed everything. Liverpool came out tails up after that goal and never let up. From then on, it was red all the way. Without that goal, who the hell knows which way this match goes.

--Babel's goal was coming. They had to get it. And they did. I love the way this season is shaping up.

Onward and upward from here.

This is very funny reading if you need more cheering up.

http://www.redcafe.net/f11/liverpool-v-manchester-united-216047/index29.html

Can't believe they actually use the words "wanking over Liverpool." when talking about Andy Gray and also, "Andy Gray fucking loving it." They also suggest Vidic's assault wasn't a booking. Even Vidic didn't complain about it.

FWIW...

Reina - 8: very quiet, but a good dash to clear a bad backpass from Carragher, fantastic save from Giggs.
Arbeloa - 8: one of his better games; just has an annoying habit of taking so long to decide who to cross to that he gets closed down - would be better just whipping it into the right area sometimes.
Skrtel - 9: handled Berbatov very well in the second half, brought the ball out of defence nicely on occasions and at the moment looks 1st choice of 4 very good CBs.
Carragher - 8: Generally solid, better on the ball in the second half, but a few hoofs in the first.
Aurelio - 8: Looked poor for 15 minutes, including contributing to United's goal (passed the ball out of play under no pressure, then let Berbatov get in behind him). Improved throughout though and very good overlapping at times.
Benayoun - 7: First half hour lightweight and sloppy in possession; improved through the game, but always the obvious substitution when we needed to make one.
Alonso - 8: Anonymous first half when he should have been showing greater leadership in a midfield that United were not dominating. Excellent in the second half. The split personality that leads to the Alonso threads and presumably Rafa's recent doubts.
Mascherano - 9: usual tireless and tenacious performance, but also showed that he can knock the ball around and 'anchor' a midfield.
Riera - 8: After realising he can't get a freekick just falling over, showed glimpses of real class. Cheeky backheels, good vision and intelligence, cut inside to good effect. Promising debut.
Kuyt - 8: Contrary to cliche, some excellent touches and link up play at times (including twice in a first half build up that ended with Keane's nerves) as well as the usual workrate. A little unlucky with both admittedly clearcut chances.
Keane - 7: Not as bad as some have suggested, but clearly desperate for a goal and lacking confidence. On occasions the indecision was visible, taking momentum out of build ups, but also showed his ability and effort at times.

Babel - 8: Needs to start some games, preferably now from the right, with Riera on the left stretching defences and both offering a cut-in/far post threat. Some great touches, got the slightly fortunate winner.
Gerrard - 8: Didn't produce too much of note, but picked up the tempo just as our second half dominance was waning.

Rafa - 10: Showed ambition and belief; more importantly, transmitted it to the players.

Had to Sky+ cos been at work. Just watched the match and am absolutely made up. Great performance with every player contributing. I was quite impressed with the Reira/Aurelio link up but was mostly just fuckin elated, especially the og and sending off.  Far and away our best performance of the season and without our two best players. Optimistic? You bet I am.

I did say he wasn't my MOM,just pointing out that those who claim he was shit are talking out there arses

I know, I just find it funny that a "reputable" company can watch the match and name a player man of the match when said player was nowhere near deserving of it, anyway I'm hoping we see a lot more of Riera & Babel starting ahead of Benayoun I can see why Kuyt starts but still don't see the point of yossi.

So pleased with the performance, man for man they closed them down all over the pitch. Movement was better and they had believe. If they can play for the rest of the season like they did in the 2nd half we'll push this to the end.

Well in Liverpol - you did us proud today.

The stats are telling - we beat them in every department. BY FAR the better team today.

Liverpool   Team Statistics   Man. United
2                        Goals                  1
7                  Shots on Target       2
8                  Shots off Target       3
7                   Blocked Shots         3
5                      Corners               4
10                     Fouls                 18
1                     Offsides                4
0                  Yellow Cards            2
0                    Red Cards             1
76             Passing Success       69.6
25                 Tackles                 18
80             Tackles Success       77.8
53.9           Possession              46.1
51.3      Territorial Advantage    48.7
After the first 10' it was near total dominance: passed, tackled and shot them off the pitch.

Team played great today, after the first 20minutes or so. Masch is man of the match for me, but riera had a great debut, made some good runs.

Ive got so many people to take the piss out of at college on monday! :D
