wasn't having a go at you, just the starting of in game threads seems like a race, one would think money was involved

I lost a fiver :(
Balotelli, Falcao, Cavani...

I'll be shocked if it's anyone other Etoo. Etoo or no-one. Simples.

In fact, I'll do you all a favor and ban myself from the January transfer window forum if we get anyone other than Etoo.

Not very surprising. Surely Hyypiä's aerial ability can be handy against Sunderland? And if the Xabi transfer-reports+injury are correct it's not a shocker that he isn't playing.

I'm more surprised that he's got Ngog + El Zhar on the bench instead of Voronin+Pennant though. Especially as he registered Voro instead of Ngog for CL.

the gog will prove to be one of the best buys of the season

why do all you people try to start the first in game thread, do you get anything from it?

You get 50 quid for starting it. That's why there's always a mad rush to do it.

You've got to love that width................

Might squeek a 1-0 through a moment of magic from Nando or Stevie. That's about it.

Haha on the positive side, Everton just got beaten in the 94th minute by an Ooijer goal!!

Once again Rafa's managed to baffle me with his team selection.
I was expecting it to be 4-2-3-1 with kuyt making way for Gerrard.

Good choice with Hyypia at the back IMO, baffled at the desicion to play Plessis ahead of Alonso...well, I am not a football manager so I trust Rafa, lets get off to a good start :)

Sami in so we have some threat from set pieces so not bad. Still prefer Agger before Jamie as in terms of ability to bring the ball out of our half we now dont have Agger or Alonso so a little worrying. Yf they are fit enough for th ebench then one of them should have started.

Benni playing on the left which is his worse position but at least he starts. Hopefully he will swop with Kuyt and get at Sunderland.

Season starts...we are playing 4-4-2...so cmon the lads.

Worried by this formation to be honest.  Hopefully Gerrard will provide the creativity that we lacked against Liege.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

Half the outfield subs are defenders...Thank God we have 7 subs this term...

Far from our strongest first 11, but should on paper get 3 points. Can't see who'se going to create anything part from Gerrard though, and the options on the bench don't fill you with hope.

For our first game of the season, it's strange for me to be this pessemistic but that's how I feel.

first, possession, then passing then creativity..
against liege we hardly got past the basics..

4-2-3-1 (or something similar) I'd say.

Playing Kuyt on the right of a 4-4-2 would just be stupid.
