I'm not, he's 16, and not the best player of all time.

People want to put their expectations into check. Andras Simon, who's only 17, is on the bench instead. He's played with Nemeth before. Why doesn't he deserve a chance?

Are people sure that Pacheco hasn't been away at some sort of tournament like San Jose?

Pacheco's 17, and the reason I'm confused by his omission is that he's been building towards 90 mins with the ressies.  I'm quite surprised he's totally out of the picture for this game.   Simon deserves his chance, as does Bruna - I'm not convinced Brouwer does though.

Because he's played about 10 minutes of competative football this season and is on his way back from long term injury.

The Spanish U-17 are having a 2-day mini-camp the next two days as preparation for the upcoming Euro qualifying tournament that will be played in Romania at the end of March.  And as you may have guessed already, Pacheco is on the list.

Thanks ASF.  Great to know.  We don't have any other U17 Spanish players do we (I know we have Argentines)?

I think they got David Edgar's name the wrong way around!

As for James Taylor....   must be great to have around Newcastle....  "when you're down, and troubled, and you need a helping hand..... you just call out my name....  cos you've got a friend"

You could probably do a team like that, add in Collins John for a start.

Thanks ASF.  Great to know.  We don't have any other U17 Spanish players do we (I know we have Argentines)?

Don't think so.  Mikel San José is a regular with the U-19 but the other Spanish lads are not being called up lately.  Roque and Antwi used to but they've since fallen out of favour it seems.  By the way, Roque who is on loan at Xerez, has played fuck all for them and lately hasn't even been making the squad.  Xerez are next to last on the table and they've been through a couple of managers already but none of them have played him much other than a couple of cup matches at most.  I don't know why he's still with them, must be some contractual reason for him to still be there.

And does anybody know what happened to that Francis lad that was signed from Malaga.  He did his knee ligaments last year but never heard from him again.  Did he have a setback? Was he released? What's the deal?

On the subject of injuries Francisco Duran is out for another six months. How much of a blow is that?

It's a massive blow for us but an even bigger one for the lad. Mentally what he had to go through when he did it the first time was difficult. I've had the same injury and been through it so to some extent I know what it is like. But to actually do the same one again on the same knee, you can only imagine what the poor kid is going through. He's a good player make no mistake about that. He's a good player and we were delighted have him back the first time and again, I'm sure that mentally he'll come though these next six months as a stronger person and we'll try to pick him up and get him going again. We look forward to having him back because we know how much of a good player he's going to be.

Simon was only fit enough to play 10 minutes last week, so that's why he's on the bench rather than not starting. Which is what you asked unless I misunderstood.

I asked why Simon didn't deserve a chance (now that he's fit again)?

His second shot on goal in 10 minutes, both from great runs past the winger - I think he's really pushing for a first team spot.

Few nice touches from nemeth and brouwer, but a few bad ones from brouwer too.
Hoping to see Simon come on to see how he links with Nemeth.

Insua best player on the pitch so far.
