with pre season over anyone think that the youngsters didnt do themselves any harm.

clarkson, beck, neco, gordon all performed well. guess some might go on loan for further development and crucial game time.

even woodburn have impressed klopp which is more of a soundbite for was and is still for sale for the right amount :P

Really hoping the poor coverage of the academy preseason isn't a sign of things to come for the season. I know we've never been the most open with acadmey stuff but not even a team sheet for the u23s today. Nothing for the u18s recent win either
I agree- this has been the worst preseason  academy coverage I can remember in recent years. Usually we’d at least get some highlight snippets and match reports on the official site. Now, as you say, we aren’t even getting lineups or any acknowledgment from the official Twitter account. It’s bizarre to me, especially with the academy coverage being one of the major selling points for LFCTV.
I get that there is a balance to be struck when it comes to covering the kids- Not too much pressure/hype/time in the spotlight etc, but this is a complete joke.

Lots of mentions in the TR Twitter feed so sounds lively.

Had his shootout pen saved though (they lost).

Sepp VDB seems to have played RWB for Preston in the League Cup last night in a 3-4-1-2 formation.

They won 3-0 at Mansfield and play Morecambe in the next round.

Sergi Canos  8) Excellent goal last night, one of many who despite not making the grade at Liverpool have done very well elsewhere.

Wonder if Harvey Elliot is in line for some minutes today? Even though he made a couple of short appearances at the end of the title winning season at 16, it'd still be a big show of confidence from Klopp. I wouldn't be surprised personally, maybe not today, but soon enough I think he'll be making a few little appearances.

1-1 at HT. Frauendorf with the goal. Surely him and Balagizi make the step up to the 23s this season along with a few others? Would expect so with how they stood out last year at 18s level.

Depends on if they can create space in the u23s..imagine there's 20+ outfield players who aren't eligible for the u18s still there who need minutes plus some u18s stepping up

5-3 win in the end. Hopefully there are some live acadmey games planned for lfctv this year

Looks like we've decided to be part of the u17 premier League cup this year. In a group with Burnley, Blackburn and Manchester United

Two goals for Cannonier, great for him to start well after he missed so much time last season through injury.

2nd half sounded very exciting. Nice to see the boy Oakley Cannonier get a brace, and Balagizi at the heart of things again. Expecting another big season for the 18s again, especially in games the likes of Balagizi feature in. Looks like Man United next.

So looks like the reason for no u23 game on lfctv is that teams can't show Premier League 2 games at the same time as a live Premier League game. This is from the Manchester United website on their game not being shown
https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/under-23s-fixtures-moved-plus-broadcasting-update

What a terrible rule. Don't thinks this effects the u18s as City had their game on today which kicked off at 12

Hughes; Gallacher, Clayton, Koumetio, Norris; Morton, Corness, Dixon-Bonner; Musialowski, Woltman, O’rourke

Subs: Kelly, Ritaccio, Stephenson, Chambers.

No Gordon, Clarkson, Cain, Beck or Bradley for the U23s against Man City today.

In which case you’d think they’d play u23 games at 3pm on a Saturday.

Is it on TV/lfctvgo or is this another "not allowed to show games whilst PL games are on"?

They could just shift the kick off times to say 6pm Friday and 11am Sunday but for some reason they're split across multiple days and  times which always seem to clash with Premier League games

The latter.

One of the Echo journalists is there and posting updates on Twitter, still 0-0 but it sounds like it's been all City and we're just about hanging on at the moment.

If you see a lovely field with a family having a picnic, and a nice pond in it, you fill in the pond with concrete, you plow the family into the soil, you blow up the tree, and use the leaves to make a dress for your wife who is also your brother.

Kaide Gordon wasn't with the U23s yesterday as he was playing with a first-team side in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Villa.

And he scored - we won 4-1, Origi, Neco Williams and Curtis Jones scored the others.

Great move for him, he’s at the stage where he needs first-team football now. He’s a Blackburn fan as well so he’ll enjoy getting the chance to play in front of supporters at Ewood Park.

He’s a really exciting player, sounds like Klopp and the coaching staff rate him highly, so it will be interesting to see how he develops over the course of the season.

we seem to have quite a relationship with blackburn and long may it continue if it benefits both clubs.

davies not reallly youth but going to sheffield united on loan. another club that we have dealings with. hope he and brewster can develop and build a reputation and decent career there.

Just watched the highlights.

Don’t know whether there was a big age difference between the sides, but most of their team looked like grown men and most of ours looked like they’d be no more than 7 stone wet through.

I think their team would have been marginally younger, with most 18, and at least a couple of 17 yo.  Whereas we had eg  Clayton at 20 and Gallagher at 21.  But they may target the more physical specimens that develop early.

Interested to see how Clarkson does and the role he's given. Don't really get many players of his size and style of play who play as a 6 like he's played here.

Balagizi looked ridiculously good against Stoke in the highlights. Really hope we can find room to get him u23 minutes soon

I've only watched him for the first time in this pre-season, but the lad looks absolute class. The kind of player who can boss midfield and control a game... and at such a young age. He reminded me of Souness, without the aggression. High hopes for him, come back soon, son.

A shame he was injured in the summer as there’s a chance he might have gone to the training camp.

Last season and those highlights suggest he’s more than ready for the step up. He needs to test himself against a higher standard.
