There was nothing in his previous year in the PDC to suggest that he had the stones to win the Worlds and by any metric, his victory was bonkers. I think everyone would do well to remember that winning the Worlds doesn't make him the best player in the world. He needs to remember that and take pressure off himself, and the crowds need to remember it too.

He's the Leicester of darts.

Snakebite not happy after he lost to Cross.

Not sure what that was all about.

Wright is such an oddball, reluctant to shake hands before the game and from the looks of it acted like a prat after it too. Suppose that matches the way he dresses....

It's always felt to me like there isn't a great deal of cameraderie once you start scratching the surface in darts. You see them falling out with each other for absolutely nothing - see Lewis from earlier in the month, most matches involving Ted Hankey and there's a match involving Kevin Painter - I think it was - where him and his opponent looked like they would have happily fought to the death.

In Cross's case, I wonder whether he's built up an immediate level of jealousy and vitriol against him with the Worlds win because it was so out of the blue and he's managed to achieve in 2 years what the rest of them haven't done in their decades in the sport.

True, maybe it's just for show, just came across as a bit petty and childish on the TV. That said, I think there are a few that don't get on, Anderson and Price clearly don't.
Wherever my boy is that's where I want to be.

Barneys out. Whitlock is out..
Some cracking games played today, shame there was no crowds..
As an aside, the standard of darts the world over has increased 20 fold since the 80's., went and watched the PDA {Australian} tournament at my local last week, and in the 2 hours i was there, i seen 20 + 180's a 170 peg numerous ton + pegs and most games where done in less the 18 darts.. a few years ago a 100 averages was seen as something special, now if you dont have it, you wont go far..

Yep, currently watching Daryl Gurney v Kim Huybrechts & it's a terrible match, type of standard you get in the BDO.

Robert Owen beats John Part 10-3, in a bizarre finish, needed D18 to win the match his first dart is so wayward type of throw you'd get in the boozer it ends up in single 4, luckily ends up with D16 which he takes out with next dart.

Due to the weather the whole tournament has been played behind closed doors, Devon & Cornwall have been hit badly by the Snow.

Wright is playing like shit. Another 7-1 loss. This time to Barney.

I thought being at "home" in Scotland would up his game. But no...

Keeps changing darts or flights. He has no confidence it seems to me.

Plus, the Dutch far prefer Barney to MVG - couldn't believe the difference in their walkouts on the second night when they played each other.

I didn't bother with the final as i knew Smith wouldn't turn up,he's like Chisnell in the big games, ends up having a stinker or choking.

Must be a St Helens thing. :P
