I've been on the cross bandwagon for a couple of months or so now, but I didn't expect him to win the world championships.
My old man had a few quid on him at 20-1 at the start. Hes been banging the drum a while too!

I wasn't questioning your dislike of him. Simply stating, in terms of the sporting aspect alone, he deserves a fanfare for his retirement, as any legend in their respective field always gets.

Nah - sorry don't agree - as I said earlier hsi conviction should have finished him at the time

Rolf Harris was a legend too, loved by the Queen, he's done his time, should he make a comeback?

Not many would finish from 140 with T18, T18 & D16 to win a leg, yet alone to win the match.

and you are questioning why I cant stand him?

Him being a bit of a c*nt and a legend of the sport are separate things. There will likely never be another dart player as celebrated as him. I'm sure Cross expected the big send-off for Taylor and didn't mind him receiving some attention. Cross seemed very humble and cool about everything and had a lot of praise for Taylor in his interview!  He seems like a very cool customer in general... the composure on all those darts was positively cucumber! I doubt he thought anyone was being "unfair to him" up on that stage. He even gestured to Taylor to come over and lift the trophy with him before he'd even lifted it himself

they need to hollow out that trophy or something to stop it being so fucking heavy.

It is an extremely poor design, given the money in the game one would think they could do better.

Cross won't dominate the sport, Van Gerwen is still capable of reaching a level nobody else can live with.

There's going to be many great matches between them two. The thing with Cross is that he doesn't seem to feel the pressure, he just plays Darts. He was playing for £400,000 tonight, in front of thousands of people, millions watching on TV, against the greatest darts player of all time and he casually checks out 140 for the match. He's class.
We’ll still finish in top four - and they won’t. You can quote me on this in May.

What I find more astonishing than Cross winning is the fact that Paul Lim is actually still alive rather than still playing and almost hitting 9 darters in world championships on live TV.

In all seriousness the PDC probably needed a world class English player to emerge. The best ones are past their best now and loads of the big events are held in the British Isles.

Biggest growth area is Germany. They need one of the German lads to kick on.

First time I saw Cross Van Gerwen hit 18 perfect darts against him. He went 177, 170, 180, 180, 141, 177 in a match at the UK Open I think?

Not much room for growth in the UK, but there is plenty of room for regression. Need a big English name to retain the huge interest in this country in my opinion.

Yeah well a c*nt then. I have no opinion on him as a person. Point is that Barney was just responding to the idea that Taylor didn't deserve his big send-off from a darts perspective, which is ludicrous! He made no comment on or defense of Taylor's personality/character outside of darts.

Fair enough, he was always going to get that ovation as he made the PDC what it is today, had he been banned back then who knows what would have happened.
I suspect, however, there are many on here and no doubt many in the crowd cheering  him on whom have no idea that he's a convicted sex offender

Michael Smith has the raw ability to do so  just needs that little bit more to get over the line.

I did think Bunting would of kicked on after a very good start to his PDC career but his regressed badly.
