Got a bottle of The Ardmore single malt for Christmas. Got to admit it's not my favourite. Got a real medicinal after taste to it. Will go back to Aberlour when it's gone.

Laphroaig Quarter Cask is only £25 at Asda.  Usually around £39 in most places.   :wave

Nice, decent price that, looking to add to my collection this next week.

Grabbed a bottle of Old Bardstown Estate Bourbon last week, lovely stuff not had it in a year or so.

Had it, it's alright at best... Much better ones out there for the money in my opinion.

Bought the missus a bottle for Valentine's Day per her request, Glenfidditch 14 bourbon barrel finished.

Neat it is splendid, but add some ice water and it opens up, French silk pie and vanilla toffee, hint of toasted coconuts. Gorgeous stuff.

I'm not into Whisky myself, but a couple of my mates are - we've all planned to go to Boisdale in London in a couple of months. Apparently it's very whisky based? Has anyone been here - any good?

Bought a bottle of Aldi's own Islay malt last week, £17.99. Surprisingly smooth, just a hint of peatiness and a pleasant enough drink. I'd imagine it being a good starter for someone new to Islay single malts. Malt is getting rather expensive these days. The last really good bottle I bought was an Edradour Ballechin 12 y/o, which was superb.

Just moved back the land of ABC stores, so not more whisky at cost for me, at least for a while.

That said, got sent off with a nice bottle from a friend/old boss.

Glenlivet 18.

Due to space constraints I had to consume much of my cabinet, I was a little sad about this, my father, brothers and mates were noticeably less sad.  ;D

Aldi has become more upmarket here now, it's trying to compete with Sainsbury's I think.

The 107 is not too bad, their special reserve and 12 year are the business.

Look for them if you can, but the 12 is wicked hard to get.

Been quaffing some of Jimmy Russell's finest recently.

He is a class act, Jimmy, met him a few times. His grandson, soon to take over the distillery, gave a fantastic tour of the distillery to my brothers and I for my brother's Stag party, complete with some excellent family stories.

Noah's Mill is a great tipple Claire.

If you can't find it, maybe try Rowan's Creek. Same distillery just a tier below the Noah's, and a great bottle.

Dan, I hope you get to have a few drams of that.

Not a whisky drinker myself but Alfie Turmeau's in Watergate Street, Chester have a specialist tobacco licence. You can smoke a good Cuban straight from their walk in humidor and taste their wide range of whiskies.

The cigar is optional by the way.
