Gander Green Lane it something like that?!

Remember them knocking out top flight Coventry in the FA Cup back in the day. Matthew Hanlon with the winner! Probably a bricklayer.

That’s it mate. They made the news a few years back when I think their reserve goalie was seen eating a pie on the bench in a televised cup game against Arsenal.

Please can you add another option or options

Honestly who the fuck would support another Premier League side? Absolute shite.

;D Yep, I only gave it consideration on the proviso we'd never existed and who I would then follow as someone from Liverpool, so it'd be Everton. If we existed then didn't, my interest in following any other side would be zero, the game would lose all interest for me in terms of top-flight club football here.

If I 'had to' then probably Arsenal as I could walk there. Chelsea & West Ham easily accessible too. Been to Highbury back in the day and been on the North Bank a few times, the fans are ok, the club has decent history and the people in the area are generally sound. Songs are shit but that's standard outside LFC.

However, if LFC ceased to exist now, I probably wouldn't pick another team and I'd stop watching football.

If LFC never existed I would probably of ended a Spurs fan, so thank fuck for that :)

Chelsea would be a strange choice, fanbase absolute c*nts, they're like a bigger version of Millwall.

Not from in the city, but next door. Liverpool is an inherited club, via my dad. If I were to stick to the same method of choosing a team, then the only other one within the family is United, via my nan. I guess child me wouldn't have known any better but to follow her example, and perhaps my dad would also have. Adult me, if ever faced with Liverpool ceasing to exist, would leave my nan the sole supporter.

If not United, then I really don't know. I have zero connection to anyone else in the PL. Child me probably would have taken a shine to Wolves just because them being the only side to play in gold and black makes them different to the rest.

Wayne Shaw. If I remember it properly, it was to do with the Scum and their Betting app, don't remember if he was in on it, ie they'd primed him to do it, or he saw the bet being offered and ate the pie, the fat fuck, Scum reader. He got fined and banned for it

It would be Everton, as they’re the second closest geographically after the reds.

Who knows, the absence of Liverpool might alleviate some of the bitterness and overall fume that surrounds that club, and we could all skip arm in arm down the county road chanting “if you want a Cathedral, we’ve got one to spare”, then all down to Yates’s to drink all the day.

Born in Liverpool, still live here and doubt I'll ever leave. If Liverpool didn't exist then I'd an Everton fan, everyone here would be (born in the city that is, not those that have chose Liverpool through various means)

If Liverpool ceased to exist now, I'd go an watch non-league. Prescot Cables are my closest club so I'd go and watch them. I'm already debating getting a season ticket for next season anyway with how football is going

Of course as an adult it'd be impossible to re-engage with another club. Supporting a football club is an illogical connection you generally make as a kid.

But with the suspension of disbelief required for this poll I'd go with Crystal Palace.  Brilliant home support that actually sing about their own team.  Seems like it'd be fun.

The club that is most comparable to Liverpool in terms of history, size, fan culture, atmosphere, political leaning, adulation of managers and old players etc. is Manchester United.

So unless the reason is geography (likely mostly Everton) and specific family ties to another club, the answer probably should be Manchester United for most people who made a more arbitrary decision on who they support.
I think Jookie might just be the best fisherman on this thread.

In terms of experiences from the past, connections, it would've been Newcastle pre-takeover, easy. Not so much now.

Brighton are a well-run outfit, don't know much about the city, fanbase, the experience.

At this point, probably wouldn't bother supporting anyone if Liverpool were not an option. Watch some games of football from any league, less and less often, drift away in time, do other stuff.

No, Brighton is a very progressive city, politically - with lots of young, outward looking, folk.

It has very much been at the forefront of raising climate change/green issues, socialist/anti-Tory economic issues and LBGTQ+ issues, etc.

Caroline Lucas (Green Party) is the MP.

All I can say is thank fuck I've brought my kids up as Reds and not supporting a Manc team.

Up to the 70s they were every bit as successful in terms of league titles, their crowds matched ours for a long spell and they had alot of financial clout under Moores. Nobody can say what would have happened, and they of course completely ballsed up in the early 70s when they had Ball, Kendall, Harvey, Royle etc and went from champions to nothing in a couple of years and never recovered, but I think they'd have benefitted from not having us around for sure.

An Everton that had Liverpool to itself would have got massive crowds, had alot of money and would have done okay for themselves, even better than they did which was pretty good for a while.  They'd have also had an entire football mad city behind it in a way like Newcastle do, where everyone in town follows them. They'd have been the famous club that got noticed during Beatlemania in the 60s, would have been the club that Scousers rolled behind in the 80s when under the Thatcher cosh etc, they'd have been a force.

But, they weren't, and they aren't, ah well.

Does make you think that even back then they were obsessed with us and what Shanks and the Paisley were doing.

Mad to think they were on 6 titles when I was born and we'd won our 7th (1966), they had 3 FA Cups, we had 1, yet since then, they've won 3 titles, 2 FA Cups and a ECWC whereas we've won 12 leagues, 7 FA Cups, 9 League cups, 6 European Cups, 3 UEFA cups, 4 Super Cups and the CWC.

A lot would have relied on them making similar decisions to us to have gained the European success. It could have been Derby County with all the titles instead.

They never had Bill. He was the driving force that took us from being the lesser of the two clubs at the time and turned us into a European team….Bob took us further along that road and we are European royalty. Everton had Catterick….

Same with United, they had Matt. All three, along with Jock up at Celtic were visionaries…men like those are few and far between

If Everton decided to pay the rent & stayed at Anfield in 1892, & we didn't exist i really wouldn't know who i'd be following today, but it's if's but's & maybe's.

Had we gone bankrupt & folded in 2010, & we were close to doing so under the cancers H&G, then most likely would be Tranmere, no way would i have followed another PL team, particularly Everton with that lunatic fringe. Add in Villa too, their fanbase are bunch of cocks who think they're bigger than they are.

I guess Brighton & Hove Albion would be most likely for me, due to family connection (it's where my grandad was from). That feels like a 'good' option too, assuming we're talking about a world in which the Reds don't exist.

We've also got a Leeds United fans in the family, and family friends who are Man United fans.

This made me think. How would the city change if there was only one club like Newcastle? No buffets for the mancs in the brick. Different fashions as no Liverpool in Europe. Wayne Rooney and Gerrard in the same team. No origi v Pickford.
