Never has the Goose Island BCS or anything from Goose Island for that matter. Was it any good? How does it compare to the Founders KBS?

For me the KBS has to be one of the best beers I've ever had.

KBS is quite nice as is their Backwoods Bastard. the Goose Island BCS is stunning, richer then KBS and not overboard on vanilla. Still more then one in one sitting is a bit much to handle.
I watched a YouTube video and decided that Paul Konchesky looked like a player.

I've heard great things about it, just never has the opportunity to drink it. Maybe some day!

Must be awesome to have access to these beers, so jealous.

Have you had Mikkeller's Beer Geek Vanilla Shake? Not as rare but I've heard good things. If you have is it anything alike?

For all those knocking Stella, when poured correctly and on a warm day it is a very nice drink.

I generally don't see anything wrong with it, but I wouldn't drink Stella.

So many more flavourful alternatives these days. BrewDog's Dead Pony Club is a great everyday low ABV smasher with some great flavour. Rather have that anyway over a pint of Stella.

Seen it mentioned before, but 24 carat gold is decent.  Locally brewed, so is never that expensive.

Anyone who likes their German wheat beers, or 'weissbiers' will love this.

It is quite nice to have access so so many craft beers. The US is normally given loads of shite for our beers but in the last 20+ years our microbrews have be amazing.

In addition I still work part time in the booze business so I have loads of access to stuff.

Geek Vanilla Shake is like a fuller richer more vanilla Breakenridge Vanilla Porter, in fact if you mixed BVP with Sam Smith's Oatmeal Stout and some Sierra Nevada Narwhale Imperial Stout... it would not be dissimilar...

Can't say I've had the BVP or that I've ever heard of Breakenridge. Is it anything like the Southern Tier Creme Brűlée? That's a pretty good beer but I can't have too much in one sitting.

I'm actually an importer of sorts so am somewhat involved in the industry and right now we are working pretty hard to secure some US stuff.

Kind of like Southern Tier, but it is a bit less sweet and lighter. That said, it too is a beer that you can not session.

Had this Irish IPA earlier, and it was very nice. Their Amber Ale also very good:

Moved onto this stuff now -  10.4% proof means I won't be able to see straight soon.

Hoptimum is fucking great. Try the bigfoot from the same brewery too. Sierra Nevada really are a quality brewery.

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

The Australian microbrewery scene is not bad but the American one is just superb from what I hear. Enjoy !

It's spring time in Texas, and with the amount of microbreweries in the state and the ones that are popping up seemingly all the time, I'm in a good place. For tonight, several of these:

As a Greensboro resident, I feel comfortable saying that KBS is just a tad better than the Southern Pale Ale.  :)

But the NC craft beer scene is really looking good right now.  Hope you enjoy both.

Oh I know, used to live in Raleigh and sell beer and wine in Cary. KBS is better then Southern Pale but I still like the craft brews from NC and much of the south.

BrewDog was unrepentant in its response to the ruling. James Watt, co-founder of BrewDog, says: “I would like to issue a formal apology to the Portman Group for not giving a shit about today’s ruling. Indeed, we are sorry for never giving a shit about anything the Portman Group has to say, and treating all of its statements with callous indifference and nonchalance.

“Unfortunately, the Portman Group is a gloomy gaggle of killjoy jobsworths, funded by navel-gazing international drinks giants. Their raison d’ętre is to provide a diversion for the true evils of this industry, perpetrated by the gigantic faceless brands that pay their wages. Blinkered by this soulless mission, they treat beer drinkers like brain dead zombies and vilify creativity and competition.

“Therefore, we have never given a second thought to any of the grubby newspeak they disseminate periodically.”

God no.  Actually took a pic on my phone, then did a google images search and saw that this one here was much better.  That's far too fancy a coffee table for me (are those bottletops under the glass)?  And that bike looks like it's used daily rather than mine which sits in the shed most evenings.

Had a pint (or two) of this beer in a pub in Leicester called the Parcel Yard, boy was it tasty ;D

http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/thornbridge-colorado-red/127656/

Anyone familar with it? I've not it anywhere else

I'd love to see how it tastes out of the bottle because currently when I'm feeling flush I'm buying Kwak and drinking it out of the special glass the missus got me but need a new 'special' beer and Colorado Red ticked all the boxes

Sorry I've just read my post back and it is very confusing what I'm asking,

Kwak is what I'm currently drinking when I'm feeling flush (it's 9% so I can't drink it all the time :)) but there was this new beer called Colorado Red which I had in a pub in Leicester which was gorgeous (a much more managable 5.6% I believe). I've not seen it anywhere else

Anyone else had it?

I have a very similar story,

My brother-in-law (United fan) brought me a really nice LFC pint glass for my birthday and to wind him up I said 'I'll take my first drink out of this when Stevie G lifts the PL trophy in May'

Now in all likelihood I'll be waiting another 12 months....... or maybe this sunday :lickin

A friend of mine recently went for a tour around the Wye Valley Brewery near Hereford. They mentioned that the brewing salts often used is what gives you the squits the next day. After a quick gander online it seems that adding salts is fairly common across the industry. I wonder if beers made without salts taste different or give you a smaller hangover? Might investigate this hypothesis when I'm made professor of booze at Oxford University.

Wye Valley make some good ales though. ;)
