Bought the Spagetti Western collection last night.... 20 euros for the 3 special editions.... Absolute bargain. Going home now in a while to get cracking on them. Quality films

Watched 'Factotum' Last night.

Very well made adaption of an excellent novel.

Matt Dillon plays writer Henry Chinowski, who at 1st sight is a drunk, women beating male chauvinist obnoxious arsehole. (Well he is actually these things) But for some reason the people in this film warm to his sleazy charm.

Dillon pulls off the role fantastically. Despite a slow moving pace the movie flies by and has an inner heart. The film reminds me slightly of a Wes Anderson comedy. The main characters should not be liked but they are.

Only 89 minutes long and well worth checking out

8/10 from me

Brick looks good, Bradigor, hopefully will catch it next week. At the other end of the scale, Slither looks like some schlocky fun but could be more entertaining on DVD.

Anyone bothered with Mission Impossible: III yet? Heard almost zero about it, besides a mention of the premiere on Ceefax's entertainment pages.

Just watched Lola Rennt (Run Lola Run 1998)

Have to say, this is a class German movie in which a young woman has to get to her boyfriend with 100,000 German marks in 20 minutes before he is bumped off by his gangster boss.

The film evolves to reveal three different outcomes as Lola runs to raise the money and meet her love before time runs out.

Fantastic use of quick editing and fast cuts along with a cool but frantic soundtrack makes this a major recommendation.

You can get this film with English audio but i watched it in its original state with Sub titles and this didn't spoil my enjoyment one iota.

Saw this tonight, not bad at all. It definitely had a good pace to it and you were right on the money with the use of the word 'Frantic'. I always enjoy a film which leaves you asking questions of it. Short and sharp.

Reccommended from me too.

If we're recommending German films, then check out Antikorper (Antibodies). It's a pretty good thriller, albeit a bit grim in places.

If you're a fan of Ms Potente and fancy a grim thriller, try 'Anatomie' (Anatomy, oddly enough).

Loved that film, and knowing it was based in fact made it all the more fascinating. Good shout.

Just watched Hayao Miyazaki's "Howl's Moving Castle". Was disappointed with it compared to his other masterpieces like Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke, even though some of the characters were clearly based on previous films.

Just couldn't get into it at all. The plot was too weak and far fetched. One of his weaker efforts.

Watched 2 films this weekend.

Bewitched & 40 year old Virgin.

Bewitched - I shall be writing to Sony Pictures and demanding they return the 98 minutes they stole from my life. Ferrell is a twat. His characterwasn't even likable at any stage of the film, this doesn't help a romantic comedy. Especially one that is treading dangerous ground anyway by ripping off an old classic comedy show.

40 year old Virgin - Not that good but it got me over the fact I had to sit through Bewitched. Neither here nor there as a comedy, seemed to me that the writers struggled to settle on a format, wanted to be a comedy with heart but too often drifted into Farrelly territory. Carell is funny and pulled off the roll but the support cast was weak at best.

Went to see Mission Impossible: III over the weekend and despite previous misgivings it wasn't actually too bad. Nothing special and a bit daft in places but overall a decent enough blockbuster, if you like that sort of thing.

Just watched Chan-wook Park's, "(Sympathy for) Lady Vengeance". The last in his revenge trilogy, after Sympathy for Mr Vengeance and Oldboy.

Simply a stunning visual cinematic masterpiece. Doesnt' have the edge of the previous two, but a more mature and realistic story.

Absolutely brilliant and highly recommended to any film fan.  :thumbup

I actually really liked 'Royal Tenenbaums' but just couldn't get into 'The Life Aquatic' at all.

Maybe I'm getting too old for those type of comedies now as it was a while ago when I watched 'Royal Tenenbaums' at the cinema.  :)
