The only issue with Olise is his injuries. Other than that he is a quality player.

Olise isn’t super quick, he’s an intelligent player with very good technique who gets into good positions, I’m not sure if he’s good enough for the absolute top level or whether he’s one of those who is good enough for the tier below, we need players with the unfair advantage of unbelievable physical attributes, mentality and technique, he fails on the physicality for me

And yet here we are, still needing a no.6. Makes Gravenberch signing even more bizarre because we probably didn't need yet another no.8. It's not balanced at all.

8s galore. Think we saw a bargain and took it, rather than look at the balance of the squad. The late window stuff was haphazard.

The balance would have been right in signing Caicedo, as he would have made that window and team build close to perfect. It's a huge ask to have a completely new midfield bed in and win a league in their first season as just asembling a new midfield in one window has never been done by a top club before, but that would have given us a real chance. He joined a shitshow, but in fairness they'd been negotiating for months, so us coming in at the 11th hour was unlikely to change things. Watched him when Chelsea played at Everton, and you could see immediately what he'd had done for us. Him, Dom and Mac in the midfield, two athletes either side of a playmaker, Mac would have had some platform to produce his magic, likewise Dom in a creative sense with the knowledge he didn't have to do the running for everyone else. With an athlete at 6 think we'd have seen the best of the 8s all season (including Harvey), the midfield with more energy and intensity would have been operating closer to full power, and the chances of big success would have been much greater. It's pointless looking back now obviously, but we were close to nailing that midfield build.

Have you seen his games against the top teams in the league? Of course he is good enough for the top level, but I do agree we need more pace in the side.

He is quick enough and he is incredible at creating chances, he is more than good enough for the top level.

Which wingers are massively quicker than him and also more creative?

lots of mentions of mobility which is critical
but in midfield strength is critical. Rodri's strength massively underarrated je overpowers players when in contact.
Gini & Fabinho were both very strong as well.
We dont really have any very strong physical midfield players its why we lose so many duels in midfield.
Its why i think a South American midfielder would be ideal Ederson,Ugarte or Andre

I'd take either Ederson or Ugarte. As you say strength is key along with mobility.

Add Olise/Simons and a Cb and it's a decent summer.

How many right wingers do Chelsea want? They've just spent £50m on a 17 year old right winger. Can't believe the league let them stockpile players like they do.

2-3 players near their peak is what we need.
If we keep all our forwards I think that would be ok too.
I dont think a new forward is as important as others believe.
Diaz & Nunez for example i think will improve.

Only a few months ago Gakpo was off form but he ended the season very well.
Jota's injuries would be a concern though

Was a bizarre summer, we got some business done early then there was a huge gap and then a mad scramble for more midfielders and an opportunistic one on the last week. At the end signing 4 players was great but not sure it was very strategic.

Aye, but strategies don't always work out perfectly. We're dealing with people, their families, money, clubs and agents. Even when a player wants a move, there's a multitude of barriers/variables in the way. E.g. if Slot decided he wanted another year at Feyenoord, there may have been a scramble for a manager, but it now looks like a well drilled process.
We aren't walking through the storm now - we are the storm.

I don't think we should keep both. Got to make room for a forward who's a lot smarter. We miss Bobby so much in that regard.

True, but Caicedo was all a bit bizarre and not very us. That said its important to note we didn't really have a proper structure in place, Jorg for example was just more a fixer than anything major in decision making.

Hoping the new structure is more efficient in all that. Ultimately though I just want a number of top footballers joining the club so whether its well planned out or based on luck and timing, dont care.

Yeah, the Caicedo bid was messy and out of character given the fees involved.

Perfect for us and they are a smart selling club.

Hudson-Odoi. You heard it here first.

I would be surprised, but also wouldn't be completely against it. Has very similar stats to Jota before we signed him, relatively favorable stats which could also be somewhat masked by poor management (he has good scoring and dribbling stats for the league despite playing for Forest)

I don't believe you but if you are right, I'm not completely unhappy, and it's one I trust the stats dudes with

He could absolutely fall under the mantle of undervalued quality, potentially

Good job I love cheesestrings as my waistline would testify.

It’s a pipe dream like but if we’re shopping Premier League wingers it has to be Gordon for me. Can see him ending up at Abu Dhabi as Grealish’s replacement as they’ll pay whatever the cheating c*nts.

If we sign him, the worry would be that we would be selling him to Roma in a couple of years.

There’s little doubt that Olise is a great player but his injury record is a problem. We need players who can stay injury free and although I’d love to see Olise here I really cannot see us taking the risk. He’ll go to United and be a superstar for 2 months and then be injured for 3 months.

Hm, wouldn't surprise me. His career trajectory has been a bit strange, but we liked him before, when the nerds were fully at the wheel. (Same summer Bayern tried to sign him, iirc.)

Crazy Chelsea sold him for £5m in the end, and once turned down £35m from Bayern.

Crazy Chelsea sold him for £5m in the end, and once turned down £35m from Bayern.

Chelsea messed around his career big time hence why they sold him for £3m + £2m in add-ons. Got to assume the add-ons are based on appearances and staying up. Loads of profit potential for PSR purposes. Joke is when Chelsea turned down Bayern Munich's offer, despite Hudson-Odoi wanting to leave, he did his achilles in a few months later.
